    Thanks so much. Fridge just made this random high pitch noise. I banged the bottom edge/corner where i assume from your video the condenser/fan is, and it stopped. I’m guessing this is the reason. Thank you!

    I fixed mine by pounding the housing of the motor (where the screws are on the metal plate) with the side of my fist. I also removed a lot of the dust on the fan blades but that alone didn't stop the high pitched squealing (sounded like some kind of animal yelping for help). So far it's been three days no issues.

      Possibly because he referred to the fan motor as "the condenser" about 20 times?
      Aside from the obvious misnomer, it was a perfectly executed step-by-step repair
      proving that anyone with limited skills can actually do such things for themselves.
      Well done!

    I think the broken part here is just a motor. The condenser is a finned part outside the fridge cabinet; it releases the condensed heat energy from inside into the refrigerant. The fan helps the condenser and the compressor keep cold, in most cases. That helps them dissipate more heat (from inside the refrigerant.) Interesting stuff!
    Edit; as I also confuse these: evaporator is inside, condenser is outside 😂

    Hey do my fridge makes a very similar sound but only when we use the water from the door. Would that be the same issue?
    For a little more detail, the replace filter light went on and we replaced the filter like a week later. The loud screeching noise started immediately after the new filter was installed. We pulled that filter out, rest it several times before getting a different one. For a day, the water pressure was good, but after, the sound started and the water pressure is lower than normal.

    • @DIYwithMichaelBorders
      @DIYwithMichaelBorders  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching, we would lean toward the filter being the cause.
      This can happen when installing an aftermarket filter. Please keep us posted.
