They're from New Orleans. Search for the Black New Orleans Indians and you should be able to find them Shawn. I shot some video of them when I was down there. I'm not a big fan but I did put some video online.
@@ambienttechno Cool! Thanks! I just found a documentary on the New Orleans Indians as they call themselves the history behind why they do what they do is interesting to me I have to say. .Thanks again Jonathan Hawk! You Rock! ✌

What tribe are they from? I teach ESL in Korea and we have a unit with some info related to native American culture so I was hoping to show this to them. ☺
how long does it take to prepare an outfit like that are they handed down what are the names of the parts and what specific meaning do they have if they have any at all. looks like a lot of preperation
usually if you go to a powwow, the mc will talk about what the parts of the regalia means. you can also search online for more on the history of the dance. best to see it in person and experience it. thanks for asking. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fancy_dance
awesome info it just shows a tiny part of a culture that i have come to realize just how little i know. the immense variety of native culture is what really stands out to me it can be a little overwhelming. I have just begun recently to really try to dig in to what information is out there the sad part is that as far as written historical text it only goes so far, until I found a book "Great Speeches By Native Americans" Ironically i purchased it at the Library Of Congress in Washington D.C. it has given me a place to start. This book affected me more than i ever imagined, so thank you for sharing this with me and I hope someday to have the opportunity to witness one of these events in person. This book sparked a desire to learn more of this history that is important to all of us. o yea the book is by Dover Publications if you ever had the time and maybe you could pass on to me some other great information that can help me even more THANK YOU
I dance fancy out of wisconsin and its fully beaded and it took 6 months and cost 2000 but it was worth it because my indigenous colors are portrayed and they are beautiful aho.... many pinomiyas..
Correct me if i'm wrong, but to my knowledge eastern peoples adopted non indians to their communities for centuries. The result? Mixed blood tribal members...
