Just letting you guys know. Whoever is taking the test tomorrow. I am taking mine in 2 weeks. My sister took her algebra 1 EOC a few years ago with our studying or looking over anything. She received a perfect score of a 5. My brother also took the test and got a 5. They weren’t nervous. You just have to read the question carefully. You may have to read the question 5 times or how many times before you know what you have to do. Good luck to anyone who is taking it!

@@dr.mellow I did the EOC like 3 years ago and got a 5. I had the worst teacher. What helped me was this video and khan academy. The EOC is not really that hard like people describe and it’s mostly on linear,exponential, and quadratic functions

Some people use this for studying, but I have insomnia and I've tried everything. It seems the only time I've ever been able to sleep has been when I'm somewhere I shouldn't be sleeping. so i ether lay on the floor or sit at my desk in my room with my head down and I put this on it works great thanks, sometimes I'm able to sleep on the cots they have in the nurses office, in someone elses bed. I use to wake up on the floor or flaying where my feet should be, but since I started useing my desk and this I've been getting a lot better sleep. Its not that its boring (I think I mean I've never heard the whole thing) I fall asleep in math class too, though I have been doing it less since I'm sleeping better. Thanks again, your a Life saver.

The answer is x = -15/4 or it can be understood as -3 3/4 or -3.75

Although this wonderful study guide is almost 6 years old, thanks to your wonderful teachings I noticed that at 1:29:35 time frame 8^4x+1 = 16^2x-3 you brought down (2^4)^2x+1 instead of (2^4)^2x-3 and ended up with an incorrect answer as a result. The answer should be x = -15/4 or -3.75! This may have already been addressed, my apologies if so. Thank you for all you do!

@@elianau3564 just finished session two today. majority was multiple choice. it wasn’t easy but I understood the gist of some things. I recommend going over formulas and going over some basic problems. Like review f(x) problems. Review graphing. Review GCF. I think I passed but barely. I felt like if only I had put a little bit more effort into learning I could have passed cause they’re conecto we’ve gone over and easy ones but I couldn’t remember how to do them just that i had done them before.

Im 17, going into Twelfth grade, and about to leave for Job Corps to get certified in welding, and over the summer I forgot just about everything there is to know about Algebra. You sir, are a national treasure, you alone are the reason that I will (possibly) be able to test straight out of high school, or at least do an accelerated program for my diploma. Thank you.
Great lecture and teaching style. I am reviewing and relearning a lot of this material and you showed me some great methods and approaches. I did notice that at 1:00:12 there seems to be an easier solution to the problem, though I am not sure it would work for all problems of this variety. If you start out by squaring every term, you get x + 1 + 9 = 3x + 4. If you solve from there, you get x = 3. You said a second answer was 0, but if you plug 0 into the original equation, you get an untrue statement.
It is just a coincidence that "squaring every term" results in the same answer of x=3. This is definitely not always the case.
Also, you are correct about the x=0 being an invalid answer...extraneous root we call it. This often occurs when you have to "square both sides". You have to verify/check both answers to see that the 0 does not work. It is a very common thing with square root equations.

this is so helpful! I took algebra 1 reg in 8th and always skipped and never payed attention and thank god the EOC was cancelled this year!! but I forgot everything and I realized im going into honors geometry!! so now I need to really cram this info.

Also guys just remember not to be afraid of the exams because you can always study early to know how to do the equation. So I recommend taking notes on this whole video then review your notes. Remember to always take breaks. After that once it’s the day before your exams you should rewatch it all and review again so you can for sure remember it. Don’t rush by the way take your time on studying and doing the test. I recommend doing khan academy assignments that is your grade level. Watch more videos if this video wasn’t enough for you to know for sure you will pass. 😌 good luck
