Just imagine being an officer here. Its the most calm day of work in weeks, all of the officers are just out on patrol or at the station. You are probably at Liberty Cafe drinking some coffee in the middle of the night. And the the call comes through of a stolen lawn mower. You probably think to yourself, “ Those few guys who are responding will probably take care of it” and you continue drinking your coffee. Then the situation escalates, and officers are requesting backup. Multiple officers join in and you don’t think your assistance is required. “ How bad can a stolen lawn mower situation be” you think to yourself. And then another backup request comes through followed by someone saying that the suspect has a weapon. You decide that they need you there to help. As you get up you hear the Channel 5 News helicopter fly over the building. You get in your car and head to Highway 55. Once you reach the highway you see it, the biggest police chase you have seen….. at least since 4 days ago.. but this one is for a lawn mower which makes it 100x better. Even though you are a serious, professional officer, you struggle to avoid laughing at the truly ridiculous situation. I hope you enjoyed reading this.
