Your AAR videos are wonderfully edited - they tell a complete and coherent story. You very effectively and smoothly mix together the micro and macro perspectives to create an entertaining video. These videos must take a ton of work to organize and create. Thank you for all the effort you put into them. Oh, congratulations on a well-executed mission. I also like your turn-by-turn videos. The experience is different from the AARs, but both are wonderful.
excellently executed, textbook, set-piece assault. That said, I'm honestly surprised at how low your casualties were... i'm sure some medals and promotions will surely be sent your commander's way!
Thanks for inviting us to the barbecue! As usual, your tactical brilliance and presentation are top-notch. I could watch these every day. Thanks also to Bucky for getting stuck in.
@@usuallyhapless9481 Wow, thats a huge number. You made perfect use of those flamethowers. I usually struggle to use them effectively, but you showed they can be very effective weapons if used by capable hands.
I like Fortress Italy because it is such an overlooked theatre of war yet so brutally/heroically contested by all sides - soft underbelly it were'nt! (im pretty sure there are panzershrecks in game cos ive suffered from them). Great videos as per...top quality.
It was a joke, because this was published in the middle of a game between Hapless and Holoween, and we got to see both perspectives at the same time. Hapless is playing someone different here, thus the joke.
Great to see a half-hour long edited AAR drop in amongst the Semper Gumby turns! Do you have a release schedule for the remaining Road to Montebourg scenarios?
It certainly is different from following formations, but I'm not sure if I'd call it very importantly different. Still, I wouldn't say no to that, a mid 1943 game is substantially different from a 1944 or 1945 game.
IIRC it follows the line of ridge pretty closely, with an extension over onto my side in front of the road junction and the villa (safe from my deployment zone around the corner of the valley). There's not really enough cover or depth to make it worth stacking in force thanks to it being an exposed forward slope. Definitely something to include next time though.
The current CM engine doesn't simulate fire at all. Little fire graphics can pop up in areas subjected to a lot of small arms fire or flamethrowers, but they're just eye candy.
Hey Hap, what do you use to record videos? I've been wanting to make some videos like this but I'm not sure what recording software folks are using these days
@@usuallyhapless9481 does Bandicam still have that annoying logo superimposed over everything? The last time I tried using it, the logo was fairly obnoxious and the resolution was around half of whatever res I was operating at.

Thank you! Though with it being May 1945 I think the pixeltruppen would rather see the end of the war than medals.

Very clever use of the flamethrowers. Did Buckycat ever figure out how his troops were dying?
He did, yeah.
Usually Hapless Would be interesting to know how many of those German casualties came from the flamethrowers. Seemed like a lot!
41 in total
@@usuallyhapless9481 Wow, thats a huge number. You made perfect use of those flamethowers. I usually struggle to use them effectively, but you showed they can be very effective weapons if used by capable hands.
I had no idea you could shoot so effectively with indirect flamethrowers
more italy battle video plz, it's so refreshing to come to an open field without worrying about ATGM and 1000 meter shot from some modern tank
Nice to see some scripted content mixed in with the turn-by-turn.
That being said, Jesus Christ, very well done with the flamethrowers :O
Cheers! It makes sense to inject some variety
Cpl Hardwich needs a medal

Not showing the effect/killcounts of the Wasps is the *real* warcrime! :D I hope to see them soon again, they seem very fun to use!
15, 11 and 15 ;)
@@usuallyhapless9481 Niiiiiiice, thanks!
Looking forward to seeing Holoween's perspective from this one!
lol
did he post anything?

@@d.c.6065 oh ok, ive seen the cmsf2 video, just tought that there might be a video from the other side too on this one
Well done video, it was a fun battle
Cheers man!

Road to Montebourg is coming back immediately after Semper Gumby ;)
You should play with American mechanised/armoured infantry from July 1943. Very very different from what many people will be used to
It certainly is different from following formations, but I'm not sure if I'd call it very importantly different. Still, I wouldn't say no to that, a mid 1943 game is substantially different from a 1944 or 1945 game.
It would be interesting to see where the defenders deployment zone was. Maybe something to include next time.

Thank you for the excellent AAR. I have always had a question about CM simulations, the modeliing does not account for burning houses or structures.

Is it possible to take out tanks with the flamethrowers in this game? One would think so, at least
Great AAR...
Make sure Corporal Hardwick gets a drink when all this is over!
Hey Hap, what do you use to record videos? I've been wanting to make some videos like this but I'm not sure what recording software folks are using these days
I'm using Bandicam. I've also used OBS and Shadowplay, but I think I get the most out of Bandicam.

@@kevlarburrito6693 That's probably still the case for the free version. I bought it years ago, so I don't have that particular issue.
Great !
i always thought that scouting fails if im spotted but obviously my logic is proven false
Scouting is just finding where the enemy is and isn't. If they start shooting at you, they're a lot easier to spot!

if this game had a strategic overmap it would be so good
What do you wanna bet everyone will be taking Wasps in the next few weeks' games?
Although Fortress Italy is my least favourite title, this was still a very enjoyable video. The map reminds me of the "Niscemi Highway" battle.
The Wasp ignited and the Germans said "danke" and lid their cigars ;)
Should have sent in the bagpipers man.
At what point does it stop being a game and start being a warcrime? R.I.P.; Battlefront pls nerf wasps.
