- In this episode we take a road trip to visit Shane’s family in Pennsylvania. Our golden doodle meets lots of new people and forms an obsessive bond with Andrew. She dislikes Pat. We celebrate New Years Eve with way too much food, and then we depart for warmer weather in sunny Florida!

Shane was born with a neuromuscular disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy that requires him to use an electric wheelchair. He is the author of several award-winning books, the President of a nonprofit organization called Laughing At My Nightmare, and a renowned public speaker who has performed across the country at places such as Harvard University, The University of Florida, The University of Connecticut, Princeton University, and many more.
Hannah just graduated from Carleton College, where she studied Sociology and Anthropology. Her future aspirations include attending graduate school and owning a goat sanctuary. She films and edits the “Squirmy and Grubs” vlog.
Shane and Hannah have been dating for 3+ years and living together in Minneapolis for a year. On June 15th, 2019 they got engaged!!!! Their interabled relationship often confuses people, because much of society still cannot fathom people with disabilities being involved in loving, intimate relationships. Anyone who watches these episodes will quickly see their relationship is just as “normal” as any other. Sure, Hannah helps Shane use the bathroom and brush his teeth, but those activities do not detract from the emotional, intellectual, and physical connection they experience together.

She is likely to live much longer than Shane so no she will probably not be responsible for him for the rest of her life. And it is possible to hire caregivers, there are plenty of people now who have spouses, parents, or children who need lots of care. Most of them don't have Shane's sense of humor.

It's been so long since we've had a Shane urinating story I beginning to worry about his kidney function. Hope he is staying hydrated. Glad that Chloe is taking up the slack in bodily elimination content here on SG&C.

I love how funny Shane is. Not everybody appreciates his sense of humor, but I think he’s absolutely hilarious. Some of the things he says and the way he’s says them makes me burst out laughing.

My dogs are the same way when we used hotel rooms to travel! They would not drink water all day/whenever we stopped, but when we got to the hotel would gulp it!!!
Now I’m lucky we get to take our house/rv with us!

Every time I hear about how Shane likes gravy, I think about that cat commercial he got excited about! So funny.
Chloe looks SO much more relaxed, happy & able to handle new situations. She's sure she's a part of her family! Happy travels. You'll be going through my state of Georgia. FYI, after a career in dog care, let me impart this wisdom; there's an inverse relationship between a dogs urge to poop & the condition of the weather. Across the board, the nastier it is outside, the longer they take! Oh, the joys of pet ownership. Try to stay calm & confident, she picks up on YOUR emotional state as the head of the pack.

I use thick toast with peanut butter or vegimite anda good black coffee. Still not my bagel and yummy cream cheese.
Ill bet you could do it with a really soft goat cheese and bagel just add a little jam to it and yumm. I cant believe Australia doesnt have cream cheese???

Just remember that Chloe picks up on your nervousness when encountering new things. Just quiet your own nerves and watch how Chloe will confidently learn new things. She seems very well-adjusted and calm. Sweet puppy!

My childhood home is near Roanoke, WV. Now I live in VA near Roanoke, VA.
I am with Shane not liking breakfast food. When my late husband and I traveled we would switch going to breakfast or lunch, or go to a 24 hour breakfast place. I love cold pizza for breakfast and as for cereal, it all tastes alike! My one son also ate leftover from dinners and ate everything cold. Hey Shane I live an hour from Bethlehem! Attended a concert at the Steel Stacks some time ago. Chloe is a gem of a dog!
The only thing I eat for breakfast is non breakfast food too. Spaghetti from the night before is best but had scalloped potatoes and corn casserole this morn!
Shane must’ve been Filipino in a past life! That’s what we like to eat for breakfast!!!

I’m from WV! We do have Roanoke too! It’s a very tiny but beautiful little area with a resort, camping, hiking, golfing and boating in a gorgeous lake. Look up Stonewall Jackson Resort. It’s lovely

In many parts of the world, it is totally normal to eat last night's dinner for breakfast. We're a little weird here in the U.S. with our special breakfast foods.

I agree with Shane on this one, not much of a traditional breakfast food person myself. It might be because of how sweet a lot options are like pancakes, but I’m all for a big bowl of risotto in the morning
