I was a waitress at this event. Chasen's Restaurant in Beverly Hills catered it. Sat at my assigned table which is at the far left was Lonnie Anderson. I was standing there when Burt Reynolds was introduced to Lonnie. The bathrooms for both celebrities and wait staff was the same which didn't set well with at least one "star". She said right in front of us, "I can't believe we have to share a restroom with them!" But as we were given strict orders not to speak to the the party guests, I had to bite my tongue! After we finished serving and were in the kitchen, Dolly Parton came in. She asked if she could "hang" with us as she'd rather be with us than with all the "stuffed shirts" out there. Of course we said yes and we had a great time with her until we were told that there was a "bomb scare""and everyone had to quickly leave. But Chasen's manager, Ronnie, wouldn't let us leave until we cleaned up! Thankfully, there was no bomb!

Thank you for sharing this. I worked with chasen waiters at a hotel in bev hills in the 1990s. At this taping I was barely out of my teens. I had a BIG crush on Burt Reynolds. I even went to his house on carolwood Dr in holmby hills. I'm ashamed of my immaturity. I walked into his home everything was red and black. Hal Needham his frequent housesitter while Burt was in Florida wasn't there. The housekeeper thought I was living there. Today I wouldn't be able to do that because of stalking laws. In the late 80 s I wrote a fan letter to Burt and told him what I did and apologized and told him it wasn't him I wanted but his pool. I was living in Greece at the time and he wrote back. He couldn't of been more kind . I addressed the letter to his home on carolwood so HE personally wrote this not his publicist or fan club. When pat O'Brien died I went to the funeral hoping to see Burt there. I sat in the pew behind loni Anderson and dom deluise but Burt wasn't there. At the time Burt was I'll and hospitalized. The false rumors were circulating that burt had AIDS. I didn't believe that for a moment. I respected Burt for many reasons but one of the main reasons is how humble he was. Burt used to say the sexiest woman to him was Carol Burnett because she made him laugh.A few months after returning from Greece Burt was in on a talk show and questioned about what makes him so admired by both women and men. Burt said "it's not me it's my pool they want" I fell out of my chair. Burt was kind and loyal to his friends. Wish he treated Sally better.

Growing up as a kid in the 1970's and 80's, it is sadly astonishing how back then we so loved and respected and admired our older generation and it's celebrities, who were still getting top roles and were vaunted by hollywood and the media, and now in today's times that has completely disappeared and only the young are paid any attention and older people shunned by the newer generations.

Movies and Tv back then was the best for the most part. No wonder they try and makeover these movies but they can never be good enough to replace these actors. Makes me so nostalgic and wish we could go back in time and relive it. The kids today think they have it so much better with all this technology but they don’t know what they missed.

He squandered his status by being a neurotic pill addict that was famously difficult to work with. So of course once he stopped selling tickets, nobody wanted to touch him. And it didn't help that it was an open secret that he abused both Loni and Sally (a fact both women have confirmed in their memoirs). The lesson? Be a decent human even in success.

Just INSANE that a little bit of Street Life" by the Crusaders is played in a commercial in this video resulting in licensing information dumped into the video description and the license owner is getting a payment. I guess we should be thankful they didn't force you to mute it.

Good lord, the way Dinah looks at Burt and the way he looks at her... that's LOVE.
What a shame that she pulled out of their relationship! And for just a 20 year gap in their ages?? What piffle. If a man is 20 years older than his girlfriend, nobody thinks twice about it; indeed, he is hero!
I wonder if she ever regretted her decision to break up? Guess we'll never know for sure.

He is NOT a hero. Police, firefighters, paramedics etc., are heroes. Not movie stars. And Burt wanted to have children and Dinah of course couldn't have any.
