hey im using sample pad pro alesis, when i create a drum rack its not getting connected with the pad ,but i can map all the other options other than the drum rack, how can i get iit working
Just to check - you can MIDI map everything else in Ableton, but not the drum rack? Strange! My first thought is the MIDI note it’s sending. What happens if you find the MIDI note of a pad, put a sample on the drum rack on the corresponding note, and hit it?
I followed exactly what you did but the top right corner won't light up when I turn the control knobs. The pads are all working just fine though and of course light up the top corner. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!
Thanks for your very informative videos. Can you help guide me on getting my Roland TD-20 V DRUMS to work in Abelton? I do not see it in the list in preferences for midi. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
The Spd-sx is such a useful and diverse tool! loved the vid man :) The fact that it's been around so long and still is, in my opinion, the best multipad sampler on the market is sorta sad tbh, nothing has been able to beat it. I hope they are making a new one though, it's age is really starting to show. One thing I noticed which I really wished it had is being able to do multiple pad links more than just once on one kit
Thank you so much!! I totally agree with you. I've been using it for years, and apart from the Special Edition which came out a few years back, nothing really more has been added! Alesis and Yamaha have somewhat competition, but as an all-round trigger pad, the SPD-SX (in my opinion) is still the best!
Is there a way to do so that I can change the sound on the trigger without scrolling to find the specific sound, for example I finished a song and next one is up I press a buttons and everything is changed I don't want to make a whole lot of new set of my Spd-sx
If you're working just on the SPD-SX (so all the sounds are on there) then yes! You just need to make the different 'kits' in the Wave Manager. Then you can have presets like 'song 1' and 'song 2' etc. that will change all the trigger sounds on everything by pressing the plus or minus buttons on the SPD-SX. If you're working with something like Ableton where the sounds are on there, then it's just a case of setting up multiple Drum Racks and scrolling through them. If that's the case - check out my video on 'automating drum pads' where you don't need to press any buttons at all and all the sounds change!
Hey Nikita! I’ve not yet managed to get it to work on Logic yet. The MIDI seems a lot less user intuitive than Ableton! Don’t worry, it’s not your SPD-SX!
Hi mate! love your videos, wondering if you could figure this one out. I am doing exactly the same but in mainstage. When I press the 4 effects buttons, it seems that you can only assign them to one function because they send out information as a slider? That would make a great video for a very specific example haha love your stuff mate
Hey the buttons will send different values (1,2,3,4 and 0) but all on one MIDI CC#... unfortunately this is not that useful without some plug in in between which is 'translating' those values to something useful. For Ableton Live (+Max for Live) could be done via this thing here: th-cam.com/video/6zqAjx-Neps/w-d-xo.html
Hi man, I’ve been following your channel for a while and it helped me buy my SPD SX. But I am having trouble using it as a midi controller. I use a Mac with High Sierra. And yes, I already know that there are some specific steps to follow when installing the driver in this version of the operating system. I did everything the Roland website says, like changing permissions when installing the driver. I also tried to install older and newer versions and nothing worked. I already updated the SPD too, and nothing. Help me please!
Yes! Welcome in to the fun world of the SPD-SX! Just to check (have to ask to make sure we don't miss anything!), have you got the SPD switch to 'audio/MIDI' in the settings? If so, are you receiving any signal into the software? If yes, then at least we know it's a software thing rather than the SPD! Feel free to shoot me a message on Instagram or Facebook if it's easier, happy to help!!
Yes, I did. And a funny thing is that if I ask to uninstall the drive, which for now does not recognize the SPD, the software asks me to unplug the USB cable before continuing. It seems that the Mac knows that there is an SPD plugged in there but does not recognize it as a controller
@@gabrielsacks5267 That's really weird! I'm so sorry Gabriel, I'm not sure what to do from here as I've not encountered that problem before! If you haven't already, give the Roland support team an email. They're super friendly and can probably dive in more than I can!
Great video Harry. Thanks for sharing!

Same problem!
Make sure the CC TX/RW SW setting is switched on, in the same midi folder

Can the same be done in Main Stage?
From my knowledge, yes! But I am yet to try it
