It looks like shit compared to Skater XL, the flow, the skater push animations, the trick tweaking, everything looks worse than Skater XL. I've ordered Session and it's on its way but I keep watching footage and trying to lie to myself that it looks better than Skater XL but it just doesn't.
I was ( am ) a big Skate fan and was worried about picking this up as it looked like it was for die hard irl skaters. Me having never really skated made me wonder if I would enjoy it....well I bought it, and I think its ace! Spent hours on it already! Highly recommend it
I love that you can customize pretty much everything gameplay-wise and create your own style. Console gamers have a good realistic skate game in their hands now! Been having a blast playing it on PC and I can't wait for the future updates! Hoping for smoother animations and a final version on lip tricks on the next update
animations will come when they get an animator and switch to ue5, but i hope they fix they perfomance issues on last gen consoles apart from that amazing game.
8:18 It's because autocatch catches the hardflips, etc with front foot, So, you're catching it with front foot and then trying to push down on the tail but you don't have enough room

Once I figured out how the story mode works I definitely got sucked in a lot more. Really enjoying it on PS5. There was one really tough early mission to do a bunch of tricky switch and fakie tricks in a line though. That took a lot of attempts and was a random difficulty spike so early on which will frustrate a lot of players I think. And manuals don’t seem to work properly. I’ve used two controllers and it seems the same way on both. But overall it’s fun.
@@recker034 I’m using auto catch. It gets into the manuals for me but then drops it when I haven’t moved the stick. So it makes flip to manual to flip out almost impossible.
@ GOAT UnHERD I just did a bunch of them on the EMB gap without meaning to. I forgot they existed until I did the Gonz kickflip. Such a cool aspect to the game.
I remember the session video i asked if you landed any tricks, and then you featured that comment in your next video, youve definitely come along ways and having fun, im happy jl helped you figure it out
For the manuals after a jump I noticed to get it to do it every time is by re doing the tilt after a jump instead of slightly tilting with the jump. In controller terms this would be your back/front foot stick being released during jump then slightly tilting it mid air instead of in one motion where you still have your thumb adjusting the movement. Good mission to learn this in is the one where you hop three platforms with a manual.
Yep had trouble at first. But if you. like you said. Let go of the input mid air then input the manual after fully releasing the sticks. It works way better
absolutely loving the challenging learning curve. its really rewarding to land big tricks. I did just discovered and turn on casual grinding though to make that easier for now

I bought the game just now on its full release and it's so fun so far. I still suck and sometimes my brain just freezes and I do random inputs when I'm under pressure but I'm getting noticably better just 2 hours in. So fun to battle a certain trick or one of the challenges in the game!

Thank you for posting this video because I literally just moved into my new apartment this weekend and played session on my PlayStation 5. I've got the settings correct now in the stats menu but I could not figure out what setting I needed to change to be able to do. Hippie flips and now I know I cannot wait to get off work to readjust it and try this out for myself.
10/10 game and anyone who wants to buy this... Be patient as you learn the controls and dynamics. Once you land your first "real" trick, you will immediately understand how incredible this is. Truly magnificent.
@@A1finesse short answer: absolutely long answer: i put a fair amount of time into skater xl on console but i got bored quick, session is infinitely better once you learn the game. the absurdly customizable physics keeps single spots fun for hours, the bails are super entertaining, the graphics are fantastic, and there’s way more content at release than skater xl has currently. if you enjoy skating and skating culture and you have the little bit of patience that it takes to learn the game, then you’ll find it worth the investment
Hey Garret! I've managed to get FS smiths pretty consistent in transition. What I do is power slide into the coping then move the back foot stick down when near it, while keeping the front foot stick to the side. Works great

From the map designs that a real skater can appreciate, actual player customization that not just the same reskin that is labelled differently, and now the trucks actually move. Glad to see a skating game be enjoyable and realistic without mods.
My ultimate hope is for the city to be populated, maybe 10-20 players in the city that can traverse the entire city just like now. The realistic city online you can meet up and skate in

On PS5, is it consistent 60fps when you set display to Graphics mode and not Performance. On my Ps4, I set it to performance and i get 60fs about 50% of the time.
I noticed you can tweak your legs forward or backwards by pushing the sticks up or down after doing the inputs for a trick, so when you Ollie or flip trick you can have that karate kick looking tweak to them

the base xbox one definitely shows its age when it comes to session it's clearly hard for it to run the game but the performance did increase in the 1.0 update a lot. Now I just cant wait till I get the new xbox
I’ve been playing on Xbox one x and it plays great too, super smooth 60fps. Messing with all the adjustment sliders really opened things up for me, pretty amazing to be able to skate exactly how you want with these settings. I almost got it on ps5 but I fortunately updated on Xbox first since I bought it years ago and to my surprise it was the full game! I’ll definitely cop it for ps5 on sale
Love that game... was a bit annoyed but after a little while you get use to it and it feels perfect with little adjustments. It has an mystic vibe same as old games such as Silent Hill or even older games. Glad I bought it...
I love everything about this game, but can't get over the way the board levels out for 360 flip tricks. Try doing a 360 hard flip. The first 180 is vertical and then the board inexplicably levels out and spins completely horizontal for the second 180. Same to a lesser extent with treflips
They need to add run ups and throw downs. No one pushes up to stuff like this lol. it would be more natural to start off your board and take a few steps and throw down.
Ive finished the game but I'll be honest, i had to cheese the shit out of Noras missions... I cannot figure tranny out, tried powerslides, the manual way she says in her tutorial for it and nothing works. I just wanna be able to do a steezy back tail round a corner as well haha, any tips that might help out?
Could you make a video on what mods you personally use? Thinking about getting the game, but watching some of your past videos, it shows that mods improve the experience. I just don’t want the hassle of having to test out mods myself, so I’d really appreciate it if you could.

It definitely won’t be as “fun” as EA skate. If you skate IRL, you’ll def appreciate this game, but if you don’t, it’ll probably just piss you off 😂 Keep in mind, it’s working to be the most realistic skate sim, not a full skate game, so I always tell people to keep that in mind before buying. I don’t think it’s an enjoyable experience if you don’t skate IRL. The story mode is more of just a tutorial, so it’s nowhere near EA skate, there’s no point system or anything like that, it’s really just skating

No, there’s no difference at all. As of now though, I’ve heard there’s some issues with the Xbox platform, so it might be broken as of rn, but I’m assuming they’re working on fixing it asap

Yeah, flip tricks to manuals are kinda bugged. But that’s only eith manual catch, auto catch seems to not be affected
