I think it’s important to note how the series changed its goals after the initial entry. If you’ve only seen 1, 5, before 6 I’d argue it’s impossible to accept 5 or 6 on their own terms because they are products of what the franchise became during 2,3, and 4. The meta-ness cranked up immensely and the franchise became self referential in a way that would have been impossible for the initial entry. So while I understand the sequels might not be for everyone, I’d say anyone who’s been along for the ride would generally appreciate the new entries depending on their expectations for the film universe at this point. However, the fake deaths do suck. My hope is that 7, subverts that by having people actually die haha.
I don’t think they will kill off any of the main minority characters or women, so they’ll have them take 20 stabs each and have the killer waiting forever to shoot or finish them.
