I'm not sure my Alabama Grandmother would approve of these. She taught me to make biscuits with self rising flour, shortening, and milk 40 years ago. 😀 I am definitely curious to try these.
I'd like to add that when measuring, you need to use dry measuring cups for dry products and wet for wet products. I know this sounds very simple but I recently found that my 34 year old niece was using a wet measuring cup to measure dry ingredients; recipes that I gave her weren't coming out right. With so many pre-made things out there, the simple things that were common in my era, are not so in newer era's. Thanks for this Constance! Looks great ❤️. Blessings 🥰
I am really enjoying all of these wonderful recipes in this collaboration so far. Thank you for taking the time to be a part of it and sharing your recipes. The biscuits look delicious. 💕~Cheryl~💕
Excited for this collaboration. Loved your idea of just cutting the biscuits into squares. Doing that from now on. Thank you for sharing Ms. Constance!!
I’m glad you are apart of this collaboration. I too struggled with keeping a starter alive. The discard part was a struggle for me…in the beginning when it wasn’t strong enough for bread making. Biscuits are an excellent idea. I’m excited to get my starter going again…I had put about a cup of starter with extra flour away in the fridge for about 3 weeks. I’m reactivating it now in hopes to use it with this month’s recipe ideas 👏🏼💕🍞
I think it’s neat that you were in Alaska for a while with the army. My son was there with the Air Force a few years ago and it was from there I received my first sour dough mix… a little packet of dehydrated Alaskan sourdough starter! I’ve been successfully using it for about four years now but glad to get done expert advice and suggestions from this collaboration because I do feel like I’ve been winging it for quite a while. ☺️ The biscuits look amazing!
Now it all makes sense! In all the times I have failed I have not been using a scale but using cup measurements. I somehow seemed to have missed the part about removing the right amount of the mixture before adding the feeding of water and flour. Your explanation really makes sense to me. My ratios were off when I tried to follow instructions using cup measurements. I can't wait to give it another try.
Thank you for sharing your experience with your failures and your successful outcome. Love this collaboration and I'm hoping to make my first starter soon. Be safe and stay well, Catherine
Thank you for the tips and taking part in Anna's collaboration. Eing single I'm going to have to be handing out sourdough goods like zucchini when I get rolling here. At least it's a great way to bless my neighbors.
Just starting to make a starter that I've named Donie (pronounced Dawnie) in honor of my fabulous bread making Grandma.. I might try these using all whole wheat flour as I'm Type 2 Diabetic and that's my flour "of choice"... My Donie is just beginning so it will take a while to have a discard worth trying it on! Love that 2 tablespoon measure, will be on the look out for one of those.. Love the smell of sourdough....
I have never tried making sourdough. This collaboration is inspiring and I am loving all the different recipes. I am definitely going to try to make it. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
So super excited about this collab! I've been wanting to try a sourdough starter for many months as my husband and I both deal with gut health issues. Thank you so much for participating and sharing your journey 💗
THOSE BISCUITS LOOK DELICIOUS AND ONE I WILL BE ADDING TO MY RECIPE BOOK. I LOVE MAKING BISCUITS FOR HOLIDAY MEALS AND I AM DEFINITELY GOING TO TRY THESE.
Constance, your biscuits look so pretty! I was curious about your choice of square biscuits, but girl, you rock! Why make things complicated? I'll keep your to about not feeding your starter in mind should I get the courage to actually dive in 🥰
Thank you for the video! I love cutting biscuits as squares too, no reworking the dough and no waste 😀 I REALLY appreciate the tip about putting biscuits in the freezer before baking! I do that with my cookies. I don't know why I never thought to do it with my biscuits! Thank you!!!!
So excited for this collab. I’ve been wanting to learn how to make sourdough. I even ordered a starter but I think I’ll try it like Anna did it . Excited to see what all of you come up with making. You can never go wrong with biscuits. Thanks for sharing.
These look delicious! I’ll have to give these a try for sure, I still haven’t found a biscuit recipe that I’m completely happy with. The oiled surface is a great tip.

Hey there 👋 🥰 I absolutely love this collab....so many great recipes. I have had a couple of sourdough-starters that have been success and I need to do another one ❤️.
I had only thought of sourdough as a yeast replacement so I never thought of using it in biscuits since biscuits don't use yeast. I'll be trying these for sure. Blessings from Indy 💜🙏💜
I've had a couple of starters that would last for about6 months and then would die. I do have some that I dehydrated, I guess I'm going to have to try again so I can try these recipes.
I enjoy watching your videos. You are so precise! I’m glad you have gotten your starter to live. I’ve had mine about 2 years. Going strong. I love the oil on your surface idea!!
I’ve only had a starter once but I ended up killing it too. I did manage to keep it alive long enough to make a loaf of bread but I actually struggled with the bread too. When the starter died I didn’t restart it because I felt like until I knew what I did wrong it would end up the same way. I think my problem was just what you described! Thank you for sharing that info.
