In the NFL all the ball has to do is break the plane of the goal line and it's a touchdown. The orange pylon is within the endzone so touching it with the ball while diving is a score. On a catch (NFL rules), the receiver has to have both feet touches the ground inbounds with or with any part of his body other than his hands. Foot and knee for example. And when they say, 'Down to the 10' that's the yardage line. 10 yards from the endzone. The center is the 50 and the yardage goes in both directions, so there will be a 40yd line on either side of the 50.
