I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the movie and appreciated the plot! It's great when a film can keep you engaged from start to finish without any dull moments. What was your favorite part or scene?
I think Exhuma is Dir. Jang's best horror film thus far. Been a K-drama watcher since 2003. I'm familiar with most of the dramas each of these actors were in. But I ditched them a couple of years ago. It's Korean horror films I will never cease from watching and Exhuma just cemented my resolve. Thank you for your insightful reviews. Makes me want to re-read my books on Korean shamanism and burial practices as well as Japanese folklore.
Btw the anima is called Oni in Japanese. Great review, many people missed out in details of Nure Ona.. Especially the link between Oni, Nure Ona and Kitsune

please upload more of these! have always found the lore/knowledge behind these traditions and stories fascinating. hope you consider doing an analysis for The Wailing!

That's a great point! The snake with a woman's head is often left somewhat mysterious in films, drawing on elements of folklore and myth. If it wasn't fully explained, it might have been used to add a layer of mystery and intrigue to the story. These types of creatures are typically symbolic, representing themes like transformation or danger.
İts original name in mythology is nure onna(wet woman) symbolising one of 4 main elements -WATER. That's why it abruptly started to rain after its being killed.
Bull Shit and totally crap movie.. Better watch 90's Tamil Horror movies like Uruvam, Jameen Kottai, Karuppu Roja, Andhi Varum Neram etc. in TH-cam. Both the Ghosts First Park's Grandfather (somewhat stronger and useless illogic tension buildup) and that 2nd half Dummy Japanese Samurai So called Demon Ghost, worthless only mouth build up got killed easily with too many continuity mistakes and logic less scenes. Still don't know what happed to that one digger who haunted by the snake ghost which Hero promised to help. All rituals copied from old ancient Tamil rituals. And heroine and actors not up to how Tamil actors acting. I will give 0/100 for this crap Exhuma, glad no second part or disappointed end like The Wailing movie....

so you're basing your movie viewing experience with indian religions. you are aware that indian religions were spread out to asia and were modified to adapt to each regions. nothing about Exhuma was taken from tamil movies as this movie was based on Korean and Japanese occultism.

It's a Japanese Yokai called Nure-Onna
Nure onna era el sello del elemento agua que estaba conteniendo al oni enterrado, de elemento fuego.
Were most military generals also into occultism ?
I’m not sure of the answer to this, but I couldn’t help but think of Nazism and occultism while watching.
