    What makes this video awesome is that after he plays a piece of music on a synth we hear it in an actual production. Love that!

    SYNTH PARTY PLEASE READ this. 5.25" floppy disks are nearing the end of their life. the magnetism starts wearing out 10-20 years. maybe a bit longer if not being used and kept in a super safe environment, but this guy really needs to have that data archived by someone such as The Internet Archive. Not only would he preserve them forever, but let some others check out some of the audio content.
    Thanks

    "When Hoarders Meet Musicians, Synth Edition." Love the format of this video, telling us about synths, then seeing (or rather hearing) them in actual songs. Fantastic! I'm a subscriber. Also, love Robert's passion for synths and his awesome collection.

    The last synth module he was showing is the Yamaha TX81Z. Basically two DX21's in a box. Mine is in the rack to my left. I've had it for...man, going on 30 years I think. Time flys when you're having fun. :)

      I personally would look at either a Alpha Juno or Jx3p if I was starting out and wanted that Juno sound, both synths sound very close and even better for certain sounds, the 3P is far better for pads. There are much better synths out there for the money and its not worth spending a fortune on vintage nowadays esp when you could get the Ju06 emulation for very little, put it through a guitar pedal and have a very, very close sound to the real deal.

    • @MisAnnThorpe
      @MisAnnThorpe 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's fine but the Jupiter 6 is about twice the price of the Juno 60!

    • @chieftp

      $1500 for a juno 60??????????????? holy shit! I bought 2 of them for $300 each around 2002 on the same day from 2 different people. I only kept them for a few months because they're more like an organ than a synth - ridiculously limited - one oscillator, not much pitch range and no glide. I bought a prophet rev2 new for $1500 a while back and just couldn't fathom anybody paying that for a budget synth from the 80s.

    Wow some great stuff! Brought back many memories! In the 80's I had a Juno 6 , which I changed to a JX-3P with PG200 (best synth I ever owned), then a JX-8P with PG-800. I had a TR707 too! I had a Moog Source for a while but it broke shortly after I got it so the dealer swapped it for an OSCar!! Nowadays just mucking about with a JD-Xi and Logic Pro!!

    • @dzre2087
      @dzre2087 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's never been worse! I own a new SONY, FUJI, NIKON, CANON, and SAMSUNG cameras.
      NOT ONE has an auto-focus that works almost ever.
      (IT's ALL MADE IN CHINA, in the same junky factories.)
      (And it can only get worse and worse as Capitalism requires ALL companies reduce the quality of the product every year, and reduce labor costs. They must show GROWTH every year, but that's impossible. That's why even soda pop has 3 inches of empty bottle at the top, despite still lying that it's 2 liters.)
