    BRING BACK THE HIGH-CRI LED AND RED LIGHT LEVELS!!

  • @deonster1
    @deonster1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    The old model is pretty awesome for astrophotography because it has separate buttons for the red and white lights. The new version is much like most of the other headlamps around where it's a PITA to cycle to red light mode. Which is a shame.

      The new NU25 has direct access to red light and Ultra-low white light. Press and hold down the left button to turn on the red light; Double tap the right button to turn on the Ultra-low light.

      @fredtrascamp1401 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@simon-nb5vx No shame, I agree with Deon ! I don't consider a hold down switching as a "direct access", it's too long and annoying when you use a lot red lighting like I do. In addition to the low level missing, I have to admit that the original version as the red light 2.0 and the new one the red light 1.0.

    • @simon-nb5vx
      @simon-nb5vx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fredtrascamp1401 he said you have to cycle to access red light which is not true..so you want more switch buttons for a small unit?maybe four buttons right?1 for the red, 1 for the spot, 1 for the flood, 1 for the battery level?maybe five so it will be much an upgrade..

  • @fredtrascamp1401
    @fredtrascamp1401 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    So, the only upgrade is in the headband ! With the old one, you have a support with the ability to put a cord or a band. With the new versions, you have to buy 2 lamps to do it : users gave you the DIY tip and to thanks them with a marketing scam ?! The new one is bigger with quite a same battery power, loose low red mode, direct access to red led not to loose night vision, loose also warm led so what's the deal ? A real upgrade would have been a green led version to choose instead of the red one, a third button for direct on/off, a band with an insert to place a dedicated power-bank on the back (with a beacon led to signal yourself to cars or bros) to double or triple the power and a phosphorent side to walk in urban places and a camo one to walk in nature. Also a case to keep the lamp well in place in the pocket or on the belt. This is your mythic lamp, you're loosing it !

    What is the weight of the lamp and bracket on the UL version with the cord and cordlock removed?

    • @commentsonthetube14
      @commentsonthetube14 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      35g. It's heavier with no headband at all than the old NU25 was with the popular shockcord mod. My old NU25 weighs 31g with the shock cord headband. And I bet I could get it down another gram or 2 if I use less shock cord and no cord adjuster (just knots instead). I use a really thin shock cord though, bit it doesn't need to be thick. It has lasted for plenty of trips.

      Unfortunately you cannot disable it internally, however you can use a non QC wall box that will limit it naturally.

    • @WanderABit
      @WanderABit ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NitecoreStore Thank you. So IMHO it is design omission, because I have your powerbank and it does not have this feature either. So basically you rely the other device has it, but if you pair it as Nitecore+Nitecore you are toasted, in sense fast charging is bad for efficiency, especially in hot conditions.

    Is there a dedicated way to activate the red light from off? (without cycling through modes and killing your night vision?) This was a most welcomed feature of the previous NU25.

    • @commentsonthetube14
      @commentsonthetube14 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. IMO, the red light is better, though it loses the low mode. But I don't recommend this over the original NU25. It is actually about 50% heavier than the old one. They just got rid of the heavy headband (which you can do yourself, look up "shock cord mod").
      The size and weight aren't the biggest issue though, the floodlight is just not very useful and the new UI is pretty bad. I'm disappointed because I have wanted a new NU25 with USB C for years. But I think they messed this one up :(

    • @fredtrascamp1401
      @fredtrascamp1401 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For me, it's just a selling scam ! Everyone has old cables more than necessary. When USB-D 'll be to the new way to empty our wallet, will we have to wait tremendously for the new NU25 with the USB-D upgrade ?

    • @commentsonthetube14
      @commentsonthetube14 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fredtrascamp1401 it's nice to only have one type of cable for everything. And there are a lot of engineering wins in it as well. But you do you.

    Old nu25& nu20 has weak bracket

    • @fredtrascamp1401
      @fredtrascamp1401 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bought mine 3 years ago. My favorite one, i use it for trekking, biking and EDC lamp as Headlamp or mini-torch for tinkering, in the car, around the house and every night it's on my bed because I'm insomniac. Honestly, the possible weakness of the bracket was never an issue. I think, it's because when you manipulate it, the lamp is on your head near your eyes and it's an area you instinctively protect as... "the apple of your eye".
