Ioane brothers were nasty in 7s
Man...this team was stacked..usual 7s destroyers then add Ioane brothers, SBW, Ardie, Pulu...... Sheesh
They didn't do well in 7s, I remember teams were bringing in top 15s players examples are SBW, iowane bros, savea, for SA it was habana, Aust it was cooper and speight, england was burgess and even Fiji brought in hayne but these boys could not adapt to the fast pace, free play and think on the fly 7s is known for.
Iowane bros, Savea ,Habana and Messam started out their professional careers in sevens and switched to 15s. Same could be said for speight as growing up in Fiji, he would have definitely played sevens through the school system. These people did really well sevens before switching to 15's. Hayne on teh other hand was playing in the NFL when he switched to sevens. He had a rugby league background. He was trying to make the Fiji Olympics 7s rugby team when he switched but did not manage to do so. His stint in london of the 7s circuit was a one off. However, other in teh fijian Team have seamlessly switched from 7s to 15's and back to 7s e.g Radrada, Kunetani.Eroni Sau etc
Ioane brothers began their rugby careers with 7s rugby.
SBW and Habana believed their size and pace would be of danger to 7s. Clearly not.
15s players do it here in NZ because 7s is huge in college rugby as well as 15s. The likes of Lomu, Osbourne, Cullen, Rush (although played 15s was better known for his 7s Cap role) they all originated from 7s rugby

Where did it say they did. Savea didn't go to the Olympics and SBW was out of the tournament in the first match. NZ won this tournament in Wellington which was 2015. The Olympics was 2016.
