  • Ocean County - Toms River - Two Alarms - 3804 Bergen Ave.
Just around 1:45PM 3/9/24 TRFD received a call for a house on fire in the East Dover Section of Toms River. First arriving fire officers confirmed a column of smoke from the main road, with that and the report of fire it was quickly upgraded to a Second Alarm fire. First due engine 2801 laid in from the nearest hydrant, 2810 was the first officer on scene and sized the building up as a 1.5 story wood frame with heavy fire on division two. 2801 quickly stretched 1.3/4 hand line into the burning structure. Station 25,26,27 and 29 were all requested to the scene while 2705 covered East Dover Firehouse. Crews quickly made a knock on the fire and the fire was placed under control shortly after, with extensive overhaul for on scene companies. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and the house is deemed non livable by the Toms River Fire Investigation Team. No injuries were reported expect a minor injury to a FF.

I'm glad that on this video, there aren't lots of Pass systems bleeping away, as you get a lot on US fire videos. That sound should mean, in theory, that a firefighter's in distress.

Why is it that after the engines arrives it takes so long for them to put water on the fire? I understand searching for entrapment, but it doesn't take the entire department for that task. When the Stockton, California Fire Department arrives on a fire, it's their standard duty to only allow only 15-20 seconds and water has to be on the fire. Reduces insurance rates and extended repairs.

Well Stockton guys run a LOT more fires compared to the Departments down in South Jersey, that alone changes how quick people get water on the fire and to work.

Best answer for these is you weren't there. A lot of stuff goes on. Not trying to be a prick

As a TH-cam firefighter who read a statistic about a fire department you’re not a part of, you should STFU and leave fighting fires to actual firefighters.

15-20 seconds is not even possible. First two engines were on scene in 4 minutes with water on the fire in 2-3 minutes. Searches were performed simultaneously with first in handlines

This isn't a real time video, and they went in from the front, so it's impossible to know exactly how long things took, you can't see them going in.

It's absolutely insane that those FD's are volunteer. They should have paid FD's. Those guys should be getting pay and benefits.
