As I watched the first four episodes, I enjoyed the show, but thought it was just going to be in the spirit of SuperJail (violence and chaos for the sake of shock value only). But that look that Rick gives King Jellybean, the way he immediately started to be nice to Morty to give him a win (and blasting him away at the end), showed that these characters were going to have depth to them, which they continued building on afterwards.
That, plus I LOVE the Meseeks subplot. Probably my favorite ep of Season 1.
Rick and morty does a good job of not requiring to always remember every detail of previous episodes to understand what's happening, but they definitely reward you for having a good memory
This was my fave S1 episode 😆 Also when Jerry said, “Have you ever tried to relax? It is a paradox!” Relatable 😆
They went from 0 to 100 with the jellybean scene. Love it!
Actually yeah, their first appearance was as a parody of Back to the future, they were called Doc and Marthi

Harmon called Roiland's short film a "pornographic vandalization" of Back to the Future. He meant that as a compliment, but it's definitely something to keep in mind if you seek the piece out. Even by R&M standards, it pushes the envelope.
"Hi Mr. Meeseeks, look at me!"
I love when, after the one Meeseeks says "...but we will get ALL strokes off his game.", you hear another Meeseeks faintly in the background say "Where's he going with this?" I nearly snarfed my drink the first time I saw that, it was so funny!
Too bad we didn’t see the reaction to Rick squinting his eyes at Mr Jellybean.
I've been looking forward to this one. This is the episode my friends used to introduce me to Rick & Morty.

@@somebrid2147 Somebody made an indie video game called Room of Roilands that is nothing but like 50 characters Justin Roiland has voiced over the years on R&M and numerous failed pilots.

Actually, since we're presuming Rick and Morty have known each other and been going on these adventures for at least an entire semester of Morty's school (4 months) by the beginning of Episode One and judging by the opening title sequence, I'm gonna go ahead and say at least ten times before already.
Yeah, it's definitely heavily implied that what we see of R&M's adventures is only a fraction of what they actually do. Of course, as the series deliberate eschews any kind of traditional continuity, with a few notable exceptions, it kinda doesn't matter. What R&M have/haven't done in the past pretty much depends on the needs of the current episode, and is discarded thereafter.

The meeseeks segment is a commentary on the dangers of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). If you've never heard of the Paperclip Maximiser, I suggest you give it a google. Basic premise is that if you give a simple task to a complex AI, there is danger it will pursue this task with no regard for human values, causing misery and death.

doc and marty was justin roilan's original cartoon idea. when they picked it up they changed it to rick and morty to avoid potential copyrights. so yeah, you were on the dot
Most episodes have 2 different story lines going at the same time.
Drunk Kacee is best Kacee. Towards the end there she was burping like Rick!
Actually the opening soundtrack are a variation on the iconic Dr Who opening soundtrack.

Not to be dark, but I hate the ending. Covering up what the king did in order to preserve an 'idea' was the exact same thing that churches and many other organization did, and it only led to more r&ping of children. Don't hide it, ever, always expose trash for what it is.

If Rick hadn't turn that pedophile Jelly bean into Jello, I would've quit this show long ago. Too bad his legacy will be preserved. The people in his kingdom should know the truth about him.
The task that Jerry asked for was simple. He just made it difficult for himself and the Meeseks to solve.

Maybe there’ll be a Bane in their village to expose the inhumanity of the previous regime.
Jerry actually made a huge mistake, the same mistake all three of them made.
He gave the Meeseks a task which highly depended on Jerry himself to complete.
It wasn't just up to the Meeseks to complete the task but also Jerry which means, if Jerry fails the Meeseks fails.
Summer and Beth made the same mistake, but other than Jerry they aren't losers so they didn't fail.
