I have a truck that was built there... Here's a picture in words. 1994 - GMC, Yukon, 2 Door, Z71 Off Road, 4X4, Auto Trans, Drop down tailgate, 5.7L"350"V8, Dark green and silver paint, 160,000 Miles 25 year old and running strong, all stock no modifications... I just got my Classic Auto Tag here at Dallas Texas. To all the workers from GM Janesville.WI plant Thank You 👍🏻🇺🇸 for building American vehicles and I promise I'll take care of my piece of history that y'all built with hard work and pride for many years to come.
I live in janesville. I bit to young to work at GM at the time before they closed but I can say I'm sure my dad, uncles, grandma, grandpa, and great grandpa appreciates it!!!
Bought two Neons made there soon out of college early 90s... Chevy and Plymouth - brand new - awesome first new ride for a 20-something just starting out and starting a business. Bringing manufacturing jobs back means brings consumers back... I hope my kids buy domestic... I live now about 40 minutes from Janesville and go monthly for various household needs.
No such thing as a Chevy Neon, we made Cavaliers here from June 1982 until December 20th 1990. Alongside the medium duty truck line and light duty truck line. You probably had a ‘90-‘91 Cavalier. They weren’t too shabby near the end of the run, however the Cimarron was probably the worst car made here.
There’s always an example to be made for the future, young ppl that are out here creating families and choosing careers here’s a piece of advice…try to avoid having urself, significant other, mother, father etc. to all work and depend on the same job especially in a small town because when stuff like this happens it’s shatters the whole life line of income that’s depended on.
What is the point of this comment? Sorry our governor didn’t mess up our water supply. Flints water situation wasn’t due to a gm plant closing, guess what, you still have an assembly and stamping plant operating there to this day with a strong future, we don’t have that.
The plant stood in glory every time I went past it I was super interested in it its a shame they demolished it I wanted to see a bit of my fathers past.
G.M. had the highest quality in North America for over 50 years. They destroyed alot of lives when they left. They burned Janesville in many ways including promising to stay until at least 2012 if that access road was built to the plant was built, but decided to re-neg and pull out in 2008. I will NEVER buy another G.M. product as long as I live.
SGT ROCK hey man, I am the exact opposite of you!!! My family worked there for 3 generations and I am so proud of the work my family and my city did working there! Even though we almost lost the house when I was 8 years old I still think of the awesome vehicles they put out, they product quality and fit and finish was the best of GM! I remember the tours and bringing my dad food for lunch break. I want to own a Janesville made truck as soon as I get my first job and enough money, and I will ONLY buy GM.

You are thinking of a different plant off the interstate. This was a GM plant. Made full sized SUVs.

Wow 8m sorry to see that happened
Sad, but Not as much Fall Out as Flint, MI. At Least Janesville, WI can Still Drink their Water.

IT IS PAINFUL FOR A PLANT TO CLOSE HOPEFULLY IN THE FUTURE MORE PLANTS WILL BE BUILT IN AMERICA
