When the animals were whipped or jumped through burning hoops, I cringed and thought they should use something softer, like a rubber whip or something like that. In Madagascar 3, Vitaly the Tiger poured hair conditioner over himself and he jumped though a hoop unharmed. I thought that should work more often in real life. I also watched a short movie about a circus bear who was born in the circus and grew up in the circus and therefore was the star of the circus. Although he loved performing and all the audiences’ applause, the owners of the circus treated him rather shabbily and he yearned for freedom. His wish came true much later after the beginning. Samarth Nigam Lol that maybe true for other circuses but before the whole “trend” of “circuses abusing animals” Barnum and Bailey already have proven how they train them and how they take care of them.
This looks pretty mediocre to be honest. And as someone who didn't even know they existed before learning about them while reading Robert Wadlow's history, I say that without any kind of bias. The acrobatics are really not that impressive and quite stupid, the stuff with the animals is frankly just silly(making kangaroos jump obstacles, really? wow, so impressive right, who would've guessed kangaroos can jump?), and overall it feels like it just couldn't keep up and update themselves. It feels like a product of its time, more worth for the historical aspect than for its entertainment value.

@@yuwelcome Of course abuse of animals or people, is not good. However, this isn't an example of animal abuse. Quite the opposite. These animals are well cared for and have a rich and interesting and relatively easy and enjoyable life. There are bad venues in the world where performance animals in captive management are treated poorly by people behaving badly. This is not one of them. An interesting (and accurate) perspective is shared in chapter 4 of Yann Martel's novel: "Life of Pi"
@@RLaraMoore Ah yes because im sure they were specifically asked whether they wanted to live freely were the belong, or be used for human entertainment,.
@@yuwelcome Neither are born wild animals "asked" whether they wanted to be born into a life of struggle for survival, and the hardships and cruelties they are subjected to in nature. Humans are part of nature too. Various species in nature make use of other species in various ways. For food, protection, labor, etc. I agree that it would be unkind to capture an adult animal that was wild born, and then attempt to force it to "perform" by starving or beating etc. It would be wrong to pull their teeth and claws. The non domestic animals in most modern captive management venues are "Never Been Wilds", born for generations in captive management. They are not domestic animals, but neither are they "wild" animals. They are (in modern, accredited wholesome, venues) treated very well, not mutilated to subdue them. They are primarily trained by positive reinforcement behavioral conditioning. They only are asked to do behaviors they are willing to do. They actually enjoy "playing" the "game" of learning to learn, and interacting with their familiar humans. They cannot be "made" to perform. They can only be used if they choose to participate. Much like a dog or house cat solicits its favorite humans to play fetch or chase the feather on a string, or other more complex 'trained' behaviors, Exotic species individuals can also enjoy their interactive relationships with humans.

@@MrMenefrego1 no one asked, and no one has to be a expert to see the clear distressed animal. I hope you’re not as stupid as you sound and support this circus.
My mother rode these elephants in the Ringling Bros Circus in the 1980s, when they used to ride them around in a parade after Gunther did his tricks with them. I can tell you all that these animals were treated with nothing but utmost care and love. It’s absolutely not true what you hear on the Internet. The people who protested and still protest about animal abuse have shamed the wrong circus. You’re thinking of the Beatty Show or perhaps another circus. Sadly there were several. Ringling, however, has always treated their animals with 100% delicacy and kindness. My mom’s best friend was her elephant, Maya. ❤️ These animals were never harmed.
My mother was a dancer in the AG Barnes circus in the late 1920's. Unlike Ringling, each performer was in charge of an animal. They were to make sure the animal was fed, watered & exercised. My mom's animal was Babe, the elephant. Babe had been stolen from her family as a baby. My mom loved her. My husband and I were in Honolulu when an elephant got startled after being shipped to Hawaii and the elephant injured several people as she made her escape and ran down Queen Street. She was shot dead. They used her story, part of it in a Hawaii 5-0 show, People got scared and any circus that performs in Honolulu now does not use elephants or any other large animals. Thank goodness, Ringling finally bowed to pressure and stopped the elephant shows.
Absolutely correct. These beautiful animals do not need to be torn away from their natural habitat . Elephants stay in the wild with their extended family. They are taken from their mothers when they are very young, and tortured into submission. It’s horrible. Thank goodness, they banned these animals from the circuses here in the USA.
I love The circus. I miss the animals, especially the elephants. I personally knew a few of the elephant trainers that put on the shows for Ringling. They took number one best care of their elephants, treated them like royalty. I know there’s a video or two out there of someone, hitting a elephant, with an elephant hook, but in every walk of life, there are people who do those things. But Ringling took excellent care of their elephants may I say again, and there’s been many babies were born to the Ringling circus. They need to bring the elephant back. Another reason for elephant trainer’s is if you have contact with the elephant, so they could take care of them and see what needs they need like caring for their feet you have to take care of their feet like a person goes and gets manicures it’s more so with elephants and certain parts of their body must be cared for, that means physical contact. You can’t do that if you don’t have physical contact with the animals. Bring back the circus and their animals!
It’s abuse, no matter how they take care of their animals. They belong free in the wild. This is not normal for these beautiful creatures. They weren’t born to entertain us, they should never bring them back into the circus.
PETA and The ADI, thank God copy and paste these videos in your search 'Ringling Bros. Baby Killers' Narrated by Kathy Najimy and Ringling Beats Animals: A PETA Undercover Investigation
@@wildafrica626 How do you know those videos are from the Ringling Brothers circus???? Those videos could be from any circus. The Ringling Brothers retired all their elephants at a very young age to a beautiful sanctuary with 1000's of acres. They also rotated their performing elephants in and out of the sanctuary, so no one elephant was ever on tour more than 3-4 months out of the years. I do not believe for one second those animals were abused. This circus brought in millions of dollars and could afford to hire the best trainers. Animal abuse is much more prevalent in the competitive domestic animal world like horse racing where there is money to be made if the animal wins. The tigers used in circuses were the animals that were unintentionally abused. Due to their dangerous natures, they had to kept in small enclosures and walked on leashes. You can rope off an area every bit as big as zoo enclosure or larger for an elephant and if that elephant is treated well, it will not leave that boundary.
Thank you for sharing your circus experience! I yeah preschool and this week is Circus theme & I was able to play this for my class. They enjoyed it thoroughly!

I've never actually been to a Ringling Bros show. I love the lions, tigers, horses, elephants and kangaroos. They're so beautiful and intelligent. My only complaint about the video is the person filming keeps moving the camera to his kids right in the middle of the performances. That's annoying. I missed a lot of the performances because of that. You should put a disclaimer up so people know it's a family video and not just footage of a show. I missed the end because of this as well. Very frustrating.

@@yuwelcome
Of course abuse of animals or people, is not good.
However, this isn't an example of animal abuse. Quite the opposite. These animals are well cared for and have a rich and interesting and relatively easy and enjoyable life.
There are bad venues in the world where performance animals in captive management are treated poorly by people behaving badly.
This is not one of them.
An interesting (and accurate) perspective is shared in chapter 4 of Yann Martel's novel:
"Life of Pi"
@@RLaraMoore Ah yes because im sure they were specifically asked whether they wanted to live freely were the belong, or be used for human entertainment,.
@@yuwelcome
Neither are born wild animals "asked" whether they wanted to be born into a life of struggle for survival, and the hardships and cruelties they are subjected to in nature.
The non domestic animals in most modern captive management venues are
"Never Been Wilds", born for generations in captive management.
Much like a dog or house cat solicits its favorite humans to play fetch or chase the feather on a string, or other more complex 'trained' behaviors,
Exotic species individuals can also enjoy their interactive relationships with humans.
@@RLaraMoore The elephants are suffering in captivity, deny that will you?

Were you there when they recorded behind the screens? look up alec baldwin ban circuses that uses animals you can't fake this.
My husband and I were in Honolulu when an elephant got startled after being
shipped to Hawaii and the elephant injured several people as she made her escape and ran down Queen Street. She was shot dead. They used her story, part of it in a Hawaii 5-0 show, People
got scared and any circus that performs in Honolulu now does not use elephants or any other large animals. Thank goodness, Ringling finally bowed to pressure and stopped the elephant shows.
Wow! I would rather see a show in the AG Barnes circus instead of Ringlosers here
I hope that Babe’s family can get to be with her in there.

0:01 Are You Ready for the Circus Today
