I took a sucker off my Jet Star and put it directly into a pot. It rooted and is now going strong in a tote! I like this technique since my plants are determinate. I’m staggering the planting so I’ll get more tomatoes but not all at the same time as I would if I bought three plants.

I like to fill my cups with soil and put the cups in a tray of water, the I just put the suckers down in the soil they 😅 root and start growing in the soil. Skips the part where you root in a jar. I’ve been doing this for years it works great. By the end of the season I have hundreds of tomato plants. And a always start my plants from seeds.

Does it make a difference if it’s a determinate or indeterminate tomato as to whether the cutting will root? Should it be a sucker rather than a sun leaf?
