Then there’s also Man from UNCLE, in my opinion a very underrated film where Cavill was quite good

In shows like the Witcher which were books… all you have to do is literally follow the books.. all the scenes in the books… it’s so easy. Got did this too… when it was great.. until it didn’t.. when it wasn’t great anymore.

Witcher was even called the Polish GoT and it was a beloved series of Poland. All Netlfix has to do is followed the plot (which is extremely solid) and they decided they could write a better story than the author himself.

Except that’s not how crossing over media works. If you word for word did every scene exactly the same, you’d have an insanely long series that would be so much internal dialogue that it would get incredibly boring and at some points, completely nonsensical. Different medias work differently and every adaptation should be that, an adaptation not a copy. The problem is when studios or directors or producers don’t understand or care about the source material so they don’t take the scenes and moments that are most important, or they don’t deliver on the true message or ideas of the source material in their changes. Look at dune 1&2; they are very different from the book but in only the ways that make the true intentions of Herbert more pronounced, not less (and also cutting a ton of exposition and details that would take away from necessary screen time for movie versus a series). Also, LOTR movies changed A LOT and also left out details, but they are amazing adaptations that everyone loves because it delivers what it needs to on the big screen.

Cant believe such a huge Cavill fan would omit even the mention of Man From UNCLE. That movie is so underated. Although, it's also a heartbreaker since 1) it never got a sequel or 2, and 2) probably never will since Armie Hammer is...well *accused* of being a cannibal. Still - that is absolutely one of my faves and I would love to see Guy Ritchie try a sequel - perhaps with a different Kuriakin. The OG tv series got 4 seasons!
OH and I think someone already pointed it out, but that is absolutely NOT Henry in that Shazam cameo. It was supposed to be, but there are varying stories on why it ended up not being him. Not sure which I believe, but I guess it doesn't really matter.

Ive been going through Henry Cavills entire filmography, including obscure stuff he did in-between Count of Monte Cristo and The Tudors. Theres nice little gems like Tristan and Isolde, I Capture the Castle, Goodbye Mr Chips, and Whatever Works.

@@thenerddesk111 those are the best ones he did, (including Stardust) and that was all prior to both Superman and The Tudors. There some rotten ones like Laguna, Hellraiser: Hellworld, Blood Creek, and the absolutely bizarre and terrible Red Riding Hood. He did a few guest spots on British police shows that were good.
Looking back now and even currently, I'm a little surprised he hasnt done more period pieces outside of the big franchise/spy movies. Like I could have seen him in movies set in the WWI or Victorian era period movies/TV shows like Testament of Youth, Atonement, 1917, Pride and Prejudice, Napoleon, War and Piece, etc. He has the look for those periods but he's mostly ignored those movies since Superman (with the exception of Enola Holmes)

Um because Enola Holmes is about ENOLA, Sherlock is just a supporting character which Henry understood and supported. It was a movie based on a book series about female empowerment so of course Henry isn’t the star he’s the background character and still nailed it. And he was happy to be the supporting character which is why he came back for the sequel and said he’d happily do a third. He also was amazing in Man From UNCLE. And Night Hunter was pretty good too. But making choices like Argyle that bombed isn’t helping his career. He needs to be a lead in blockbuster type movies with an A list director and A list co-stars so he can get better scripts. Honestly I think he needs a better agent because the current one isn’t doing much for him. The man conveys so much emotion with one look he needs to grab onto an emotional heart tugging script preferably based on true events something deep like the Pianist, Philadelphia, or Spotlight done by a notable and respected director. Hollywood fucked up big time not giving him the role of James Bond.

Henry Cavil ticks off Hollywood bigwigs as he actually wants GOOD script that follow book themes and guidelines. While Hollywood would prefer to rip off books and rewrite them to suit themselves and just muck up the stories.

The role id want to see him in is the antaginost of captain Teague. Announced recently that they want to redo pirates cause they screwed depp and he wont come back, it would make sense to do a movie with thr father character we met in 3rd movie.
As such making Henry an admiral whl is meant to catch/stop teague wouos be a fun cat and mouse movie with sime good action secens id wager.
Of course Disney wont do that and like the witcher settle for somthing less than decent just to make a buck or 2.

I like Henry a lot… but bruv… he’s not some unknown actor, he’s been in some of the most hyped franchises and worked with a ton of big directors… we past the era of actors selling films loooooooooooong ago, he just hasn’t landed a IP that has had enough quality for him to endlessly spawned sequels.
We (the audience) don’t go to the movies anymore for stars, the last of the real movie stars who people by knee jerk think can still sell a film on their star power alone… don’t… Keanu has had many duds, Tom Cruise’s las mission film tanked… who else is even left from the era of the “movie star”?
Sadly movie stars don’t actually matter that way, gone are the days that actors with immense star power can pick a interesting film (younger people won’t get this) like Brad Pitt picking Seven and going to bat for Fincher and some of his “unconventional” choices… now the audiences tend to show up for franchises… and this also seems to less and less viable.

personally I think Henry would be best served with a "studio cut" of Man of Steel where they take out the last half hour of Snyder B.S. and edit in a proper Superman finale. it could have been as impressive as Batman Begins (nothing will touch Dark Knight) or Dark Knight Rises...

You’re seriously misinformed about Henry’s DC run. Man of steel BvS and ZSJL were massive hits whether you agree with them or not and if you’re going to talk about his Justice league performance you don’t use josstice league. No one watched the Snyder cut? There’s no accurate source for what the numbers were other than WB stating it was a “global phenomenon” and Henry did not cameo in Shazam, they had another actor stand in wearing the suit along with this the Snyder cut was not what caused him to stop being Superman but a regime change. They way you threw in an ass kiss to peacemaker shows however you have more personal feelings about particular DC content than to report on it accurately

Yeah, the previous supermen had in their stories where Pa Kent telling Clark to protect human life whereas in Man of Steel, pa Kent told Clark to hide his powers and not use them to protect lives where he would basically out himself to the public. The killing of Zod was just the evolution and reinforcement of his moral values, not to kill anyone. As for destruction of the city and killing of population, it was more realistic because it is basically a fight between near godlike beings with powerful attributes and technology
