We pray because it changes God right? NO. Prayer changes US! Here is a great example. May God use our prayers to change us into who he wants us to be. Thanks for the teaching!

Such a good word! Help me Father not to have a prideful heart. Help me to always have a patient and gracious heart towards other believers. Let me always take action to pray and give of myself to lovingly lead others into Your truths and teach me along the way 🥰

There is a lot packed into these verses from Hosea & his message seems so relevant for today. I am so thankful that God has gifted us with His Word & Holy Spirit - to help us through these days and convict us of our sin. Greetings to all & thank you Pastor for sharing these messages 🇨🇦.

What a great word today to give pause and reflection. Few can extract from a passage as Pastor David. How many times do we read over a passage and then look back and say, you know was that really there? Did they re-write the Bible since I last read this section, or did I miss it the 1st time, the 2nd time, the 78th time etc?
It is an interesting and unique passage, much like Hosea the prophet and his call is - was no easy task for him to be obedient to his call, representing the nation of Israel's unfaithfulness and God's goodness spurned and ignored. It was both humbling and humiliating, but we are no more ready to serve God if we go like an ox or bull in our own strength, often the Lord must break us to use us.

The prayer is an interesting one - God why should young people be born to suffer thru a poor example of their parents? Spiritually dry. No new life is evident. No fruit. All dead and dried up. It is a merciful prayer. Why multiply the corruption?
Did they deserve it, sure, but who made us the judge or the avenger? Is vengeance for hurt, anger, disobedience, the Lord's? Do we trust in Him or our own ways to make things right?
David rightly points out - No birth, no pregnancy, and no conception: In contrast to their past fruitfulness, now Israel will experience barrenness and bereavement (I will bereave them to the last man), given to them by the God they rejected.
Give them, O LORD - What will You give? The idea is that Hosea began an angry prayer against the people (“Give them, O LORD”), then he stopped because he checked his heart and didn’t know what to pray (“What will you give?”). In the end, he asked for a miscarrying womb and dry breasts. Really, Hosea prayed for mercy. Knowing the coming judgment, he prayed “LORD, give them few children so those children will not have to face the horrors of Your coming judgment.”
When we pray in a poor manner, we pray a poor prayer forgetting how we ourselves look in the mirror. Oh God, thank you that I am not like that filthy poor publican ... lol, David is right. If we pray with such a mentality and attitude, Satan is dancing, he has won another battle where our perceived "righteous indignation" became a stench of "pride". It's ok to be frustrated, but humility and pride have no place in the same prayer. Our boast and confidence must be in the Lord, and we should have a holy pause, wait, wait, wait on the Lord. His will shall be done. Not by might in our own power, but in His.

In Spanish (espanol) peor - means WORSE. That may help in this context - destination - Baal Peor: Israel’s sin & idolatry in the days of Hosea was like their sin at Baal Peor in Numbers 25, associated with sexual immorality & idolatry.
How often do WE PRAY the WRATH of GOD on those "we deem" evil? We forget we do not wrestle flesh & blood, but rather evil powers of the dark at work. We often "detach" ourselves from sin, and that is good to desire to come out from among them, be holy, and separate. Yet let us never forget - we were once as they are, and we are not perfect, we too sin, and need continual washing and forgiveness. We do not arrive at a better place than the sinner, for we too are sinners. Salvation is available to all those who call out for it, and see their need for it.
David is right, we become like the company we keep, or if we are more to ourselves, we become what we focus on. As we think we are, we become. If our focus is bent or awry, so it is the direction we will then take, without the merciful intervention of the Lord.
