Agreed. We are guests in Seth's garage. He let's us follow along and I enjoy it. Some of my interest is a walk down memory lane - I'm an electrician and I spent a lot of time in my teens working in my grandfather's shop repairing some of the same equipment alongside him. Of course, we didn't (yet) have silver mica disease but I always got to do the tuning dial strings because 'girls are better at that sort of thing'. You think Seth turns the air blue? I used language (especially on the Telefunken stuff) which would make AvE blush. I know the faux Christians like to pretend outrage and make everyone behave their way, but it's his garage, we are guests and we should be courteous guests.
This is an early '50s Zenith set that does not have Civil Defense markings on AM. The markings would be on these sets of all makes and models in the 1953-1963 timeframe. Very nice!
Just noticed that the dial cord was supposed to be routed to the standoff on the front of chassis, about an inch or so to the left of the tuner rod. If you look at the foam rubber "seal" for the speaker, there appears to be a relief cutout for the dial cord. Hope this helps, love the videos!
Zenith model J615 with chassis 6J05 circa 1952. To keep from bending the tuning indicator you must go either all the way to either end of travel to pull cabinet out without damaging the indicator pointer. Unfortunately the tuning string was broken. There is a .01uF cap across the primary side of the audio transformer but the old e-cap cooked it! Replace it and the rest was easy peasy. Great job Seth and with the Bluetooth addition you have a nice listening option. Always hated that stupid wrapping on the handle. Usually you will find them broken. They usually ask a steep price for this model. So about your cursing. Another YT'er whose name I won't mention stopped cursing and she started getting more views! She was know for it and stopped and well that is how she started getting paid more for doing her videos. Two a week for the last 7 years. That's dedication. Money talks.

Basically, it's not my channel and, for all I know, Seth dies a little inside everytime he sees me make a comment on something that leaves him going WTF (out-loud, without the abbreviation). That said, I just skip past any comment that begins with that user name. I read those of everybody else and often learn from them.

You lost me on using an isolation transformer to connect bluetooth through the phono jack. Could you explain this in a little more detail. Why can't you connect the bluetooth directly to the phone input? Thanks.
Ethel, there is no reason for everyone who enjoys this channel to put up with the spam that "greg" puts here, or to "skip over them". It is a matter of principle now, he has clearly been warned to stop this multiple times by Seth, so you should not be non-committal or accepting of it. Hit the report button on every post he makes, choose the "unwanted commercial/spam" option, then hopefully you tube will see that there are a lot of complaints and do something about him. I'm fairly certain they use automated systems to gather data on reports about users, so we all have to create more data for them to notice this. Even Seth may not have the power to unilaterally ban someone, so the more evidence there is, the more likely you tube will act.
I'm impressed. I usually don't get to Seth's videos until after doing the dinner dishes and helping the grandchildren with their homework in math. I am so thankful the schools have abandoned 'new math' and gone back to actually teaching students, again. May be the only good thing to come out of the 'every child left behind' policies of a past US administration.

As soon as I saw the flicker of the number 47 bulb I knew right away it was the rectifier tube that was bad
I wonder if that defective output transformer caused a domino effect on those bad tubes.
