Late to this video, but glad I found it. Especially like how you tried to match the Ping AWT shaft to a similar shaft for the Srixons and also the lie angles. A lot of TH-cam reviewers will not do that or even say what shafts they are using. 😁👍👍
I like to reduce the differences to a minimum where I can - If it's just the head that's different, it makes it more valid. Ever the scientist in the studio! (artist on the golf course)
Spin rates are also higher dependent on clubhead speed. If you’re swinging a 7i at 70mph v 90mph, the spin rates are going to be very different, even w the same club.
Yes spin rates do change with speed ...Unlikely they will suddenly surpass each other club to club... the lower spinning head will still spin low, the trend will continue with the speed if all other factors stay constant ...Throw another dynamic in... and we have a different test.. Golf ball is my first reaction to spin being too low or too high, it's an easy place to find a fix in a fitting scenario
While the comment is that higher spin makes it stop faster, in this case it looks like the higher spinning ZX5 went 12 yards after landing while both the lower spinning Ping 430 and ZX4 both went 6 yards!
That's because it was landing short of the green and on the fairway, with a harder bounce ....the Ping and the ZX4 were landing on the green, which is more receptive 😁
@@robertn3121 I'll do some research and see if I need to add this to my general analysis on videos for the viewer 👍 First time it's been mentioned in a comment
Looking for more distance and bent my ZX5’s down 2 degrees. Anyone think ZX4’s will still be hotter at same loft? 90mph swing speed but still short of where I’d like to be on greens
Loft vs Loft would come out very similar distance wise ...The ZX4's spin a bit less so could get the edge on distance ...Just need to watch the spin isn't so low that the ball drops out of the sky with the longer irons if you're doing that (target 5000 backspin with 7 iron minimum, higher is more controlled landing, lower is more distance but less control) I'd say it's important to know what your irons carry and play with that knowledge - I'd love to remove the numbers on everyone's irons and replace with average carry to play and score better
Hello again. Looking at weakening the lofts on my I230 irons. They are power spec is it OK to get them lowered or am I best looking at changing irons? After abit more spin
@FredzGolf one place I had my fitting for shafts the other day. Said because they are ping basically no. I think there are 2 other places I can try. I have had t100s irons bent there before. But just thought I'd ask before I send these ones in.
@nellynelson9387 some places will avoid bending Ping because of the serial numbers relating to the specs on Pings computer... I've never had a problem with the actual adjustments 😋
@nellynelson9387 Yeah absolutely.. I'm at Hole Sale Golf LTD on Google maps if that helps see how far away you are ...keep me as a backup as will just need to allow for postage time back and forth 👍
Just got new srixon irons. P-6 zx5 and 5-4 zx4. Can’t wait for them to come!
Love that ...they're so good in combo sets!!!
I've got ZX7 5-PW and a ZX4 4 iron!
Great video! On the verge of getting the zx5's.
Like the anecdote about the "what club/yardage".
I literally want to remove the club numbers on most peoples clubs hahah ...this club goes X yards... Go

Decent angle is more important than spin rate when it comes to game improvement irons as about every other reviewer on TH-cam has said.

I ended up 6-PW IN ZX5'S and a 4 and 5 hybrid.....I came out of G-430'S for ZX5'S.
Good choice!! The hybrids are decent as well!!
Just got fitted ZX5 4-7 and ZX7 8-P. Im a lefty so no AW option :(
@@cameronmays942 Ah maaaaaan that sucks ...the AW looks beautiful 😍 although I'm going for the new Cleveland wedges hehe
@@FredzGolf Yes! Got fitted into the zipcore 6! Satin black! Cant wait!

Good info. What about the feel difference?
Ping is really clicky and feels "hard"
Can you do a i230 vs zx5 comparison ?
If I get a customer with them that lets me do a video, yes ...otherwise I struggle to get Ping products to review!

Oooh I like your thinking, spin is very important!! ...They'll move for sure, have you got anyone nearby that you trust? :)
