Wow, what a performance - superb. The young fresh enthusiasm completely lifts and transforms this performance into the opera it should be. The direction and interpretation was the best I have ever had the privilege of seeing. The introduction was a master piece of theatre and places this work into context - the people involved are/were very creative and the attention to detail was top notch. This relatively rare opera is a master piece of music by the master and this performance brought the emotion to the highest level. This production was professional in all respects in all departments and it will be wonderful to to see, and follow, Pretty Yende, Zandile Gwebityala, Given Nkosi and Arthur Swan from the start of their careers - as this performance showed us their true protentional. Thank heavens that in this day and age this performance was captured for us to enjoy - thank you so much for putting it online. The acting skills and portrayal matched the excellent singing and it is a performance I shall keep watching. A surprisingly good production of this beautiful opera. Brava to the lead soprano, but they are all good! These students sing like professionals!
