This was so helpful Ian and a really great representation of what you and your new project can offer to make us all better! Thank you and Happy Holidays to you and yours.
This winter my indoor practice will be concentrating on developing a skill of shaping shots by changing wrist angles at the top of the swing - it is a new skill for me and I am not very good at it but already I have been better able to find the middle, ie a straight shot. I always spend the last 20 minutes of a practice session trying to hit specific distances with my wedges and short irons. Completely agree with Ian about not practising with the wrong sort of shoes on. I use proper but slightly old golf shoes for practice, shoes I used on the course until the inner lining developed holes
Blind golf. When we were kids we couldn’t get on the course before midday, so spent hours on the practice ground. We developed games to keep it interesting. One was blind golf, pick a target on the practice ground, set up, aim, close your eyes, and fire. We got very good with our eyes shut, such that we challenged full members to games where we hit with our eyes shut, including putting. We didn’t lose many matches, my father took me out to challenge his pals and laughed his way round as i made him money. So Bryson blind practice is nothing new, the feel you develop is incredible, i still feel where ive hit the ball, helps as my eyesight isnt great.
Thank you for your contributions to us getting better at golf. Your analytical approach speaks to me in a way I am not really finding in other golfing youtube channels. Cheers!!! I look forward to our continued journey.
Really enjoyable and informative. Great insight into making best use of time at range and able to put into practice during winter golf in NE Scotland. Thanks to both of you
Thanks Ian! Appreciate the great insight on winter practice. It’s all about getting a good ROI on time in the bay and you and Ralph hit the mark on a combination of swing drills, balance, block practice, transitioning to some interesting feel practice at Pebble Beach #7 and #18 adding challenging pin placements, the wind, the ocean etc.. That drill required you to step back and execute strategy, dial in carry distances, check the heart rate/nervous system as well as challenge you with the driver (which has been a bit of a challenge). Ended with some swing speed practice. Great diversity of skill set building not just technical swing mechanics. Good stuff!!
I was guilty for most of my life, but I don't know how I (or anyone) got by not knowing carry yardages. No wonder I couldn't break 100 and rarely ever hit a GIR. Looking forward to more content like this.
disagree with using golf shoes on turf for practice the turf has more grip than grass. using golf shoes on turf would cause an incorrect amount of grip compared to using them on grass. golf shoes were meant for grass not for practice turf. my vans work just fine on turf while my golf shoes on grass gives me the same grip as using vans on turf
34:15 "I'm transitioning to a new big stick" what else is new! We all know you'll be back gaming SIM eventually Ian! 🤣 Great stuff
So glad to see you are keep us learning!!
