He is second generation, but he did originally create a lot of the foundational moves and flavors. There was a foundation already there when Ken Swift came on the scene, but later on, Ken Swift built new things upon that foundation that later became foundation. So although he isn't the original founder of bboying, he did start a lot of new things that are foundation today.
rhythm is not all beat, dancing to a rhythm is listening to the different instruments and going along with different parts to the song, not just snares, but u can dance to the trumpets, the flow of the lyrics, the drumming or whatever.
What did he bite off of Ken Swift in this cypher? In this vid, Born is doing basic freezes, basic footwork. And there are certain techs that I've seen bboys do before in the past, but more so from third generation RSC member Easy Roc, rather than Ken Swift. Point out where the bite is from Ken Swift, which tech?
Style elements, were one of the first crews that started doing things that are foundation for this generation now. Like one handed hand hops, headplants, and certain variations of coindrop like movements. They are far from the generation of first generation bboys, it doesn't mean they weren't original founders of certain styles and moves that are considered foundation today.
oh yeah of course, i've seen him use his special own power moves, but he doesn't even need them. he's just sick at his beat killing top rocks. too good.
beat hitting is doin a freeze on a huge beat for example hittin an airchair on an explosion fx in the music. beat riding is kinda playing around with the song, making a gun shape when there is a gunshot sound or kinda like if the music is really light and playfull, a beatrider would change his/her toprocks/sets to make it kinda float along with the music. in the redbull bc one, if you watch lilou vs physix, you would think physix won, but lilou wins cause he was beatriding the whole time
@TheGraffiteGhost Oh man I hate when people skip the foundation. I've been bboying for 6 months and have been working strictly on my toprock/downrock before anything "fancy" yet there's people who there who has spent 6 months trying to windmill and that's all they know.
DeSora is right, I'd go to Bboy Still or Physicx OR Born's school if it was offered at a low price... any good bboy teaching, I would go. There's always the preference too.
thats wat i thoguht too. Born used to be a powermover n now hes style, but apparently benny ben from rivers told me hes always tried to do style lol so i dunno
@seymourglass26 but i tried to say born was on gabler crew, not gamblerz, with z. I really don't know if that's true, but a friend of mine, bboy since 98, told me that, and i saw peolpe sayin' this at youtube. I'm not sure, maybe i'm wrong. Peace!
@5eanJKim Yes thats what Born claims. However one of the oldest battles of his makes him look nothing like a style head. I believe Born, but when he battled Joe it was obvious that he was being a powerhead.
I don't recall chair flares being simple power moves. I know he's a Style head, that much is true. But simply put that battle raised some questions. The hell is a airchair style? Born didn't use that many Airchairs in that battle.
true. very well. However, Physicx does indeed combine creativity along wit his power movies. Check out rivers at annadale, vg. His elbow spins to the beat was fuckin sickness!
This is not born school, i guess this is rivers studio! And Born become a stylehead since 2004. Before this, Born was a power move bboy form gambler (:
Even if Kevin Federline could do all of Baek's moves, it still wouldn't make him a bboy, because the definition of a bboy isn't just knowing some moves. Born knows the moves, but he knows the history and ideology of bboying, you don't, so don't try to make like you are at his level just because you can do a six step. There are foundational ethics/mindset to bboying, and foundational moves. Without the former, the latter just becomes rehearsed tricks.
well i wouldn't say he's biting.. i mean.. this is him teaching right? after all.. it is 'Foundation School'.. he's probably using ken swift's moves on purpose, to show the kids what foundation's all about. besides, not like he'd do that in an actual cypher or a battle.
riding the rhythm is being on the beat. if you're not on the beat, your out of rhythm. THEREFORE, being on the beat is very important. it requires skill to be on beat without even sweating it.
@tremerin1 Dude, visit the Gamblerz website. Read their facebook page or their wikipedia. I'm not anything special, but I care enough about bboying to want to get the truth out there. No disrespect, just honesty. Peace.
But his six step and flares are cleaner than yours. Baek is dope, but just because a bboy pushes themselves to do more strength moves that look painful, doesn't make them a better bboy. And Baek isn't a freestyle type bboy, he has planned sets and transitions of freezes, that aren't freestyle. He wouldn't do well in a raw cypher in an underground event grassroots, the strong ones in that kind of an arena are freestyle bboys, who just connect with the song, letting the music move them.
He was one of the ones who became the blueprint of what bboys do today, and created many things, and he's not a "real bboy" because he's not doing major strength moves, and does basic footwork techs and moves?? You need to go back to basic manners and respect for those who deserve it school, because you're not even at level one of hip hop introductory "school."
Baek moves to the music with sets he has planned, which is good, but it doesn't make him a freestyle bboy. You admit you're an amateur, which is correct, your knowledge of hip hop, where it came from, and its ideology, is something you need to study. Knowing how to do a 6 step and flares doesn't make you a bboy, Kevin Federline could do a 6 step brother, he's not a bboy.
Stop using the term powerhead already. It's the same with "breakdance". It's not breakdance it's bboyin. Just like there's no such thing as powerhead and stylehead. Besides, only "powerheads" are noobies learning an airchair before toprock, footwork, or baby freeze. Standing freeze>babyfreeze>chairfreeze>airchair. You learn in that order taught by PoeOne. None of this "I wanna windmill before the basics bullshit..."
@peter16742 you have NO idea what breaking is . just cause someone doesn't do power moves, doesn't mean they're 'amateur . in breaking, no one is better than someone else, there's always someone that's gonna be better than you . dissing someone is cool when its INSIDE the battle, outside, it just proves you have no respect for breaking . gtfo kid .
I don't recall chair flares being simple power moves. I know he's a Style head, that much is true. But simply put that battle raised some questions. The hell is a airchair style? Born didn't use that many Airchairs in that battle.
true natural style right there people :D! he is really dancing from his soul. epic bboy is epic
its not always important if ur on beat all the time, but if u can ride the rhythm is overlooked.
Looks like he has a lot of students. Lucky to be taught by the best.
rhythm is not all beat, dancing to a rhythm is listening to the different instruments and going along with different parts to the song, not just snares, but u can dance to the trumpets, the flow of the lyrics, the drumming or whatever.
I like both gamblers and last for one. Out of those two crews who specifically would you say is a better dancer/teacher?
so much style and flavour!
if you search it that battle make sure you search it up for the orignal sound track
lol
shiiiieet
when was this taken???/
i neva seen this set... or flava from born before
it seems new..
anyways.....its dope
man this set is so sick
What did he bite off of Ken Swift in this cypher? In this vid, Born is doing basic freezes, basic footwork. And there are certain techs that I've seen bboys do before in the past, but more so from third generation RSC member Easy Roc, rather than Ken Swift. Point out where the bite is from Ken Swift, which tech?
even though this guy aint got no power moves, well hardly uses em; he doesn't even need them.
Born, keep killin them beats man.
Style elements, were one of the first crews that started doing things that are foundation for this generation now. Like one handed hand hops, headplants, and certain variations of coindrop like movements. They are far from the generation of first generation bboys, it doesn't mean they weren't original founders of certain styles and moves that are considered foundation today.
that run was dope."would you say."freestyle"
oh yeah of course, i've seen him use his special own power moves, but he doesn't even need them. he's just sick at his beat killing top rocks. too good.
Yes they do I have a pair and my Friend Jose has a pair you just have to look for them in the right place
beat hitting is doin a freeze on a huge beat for example hittin an airchair on an explosion fx in the music. beat riding is kinda playing around with the song, making a gun shape when there is a gunshot sound or kinda like if the music is really light and playfull, a beatrider would change his/her toprocks/sets to make it kinda float along with the music. in the redbull bc one, if you watch lilou vs physix, you would think physix won, but lilou wins cause he was beatriding the whole time
Go get 'em, Born. :)
@TheGraffiteGhost
Oh man I hate when people skip the foundation.
I've been bboying for 6 months and have been working strictly on my toprock/downrock before anything "fancy" yet there's people who there who has spent 6 months trying to windmill and that's all they know.
this is in rivers studio
DeSora is right, I'd go to Bboy Still or Physicx OR Born's school if it was offered at a low price... any good bboy teaching, I would go. There's always the preference too.
i wonder who shoots all there battles and practices?
born was beat riding as opposed to beat hitting. there is a huge diff. between the two
He is ON beat, he's just hitting a different instrument than the one that everyone is clapping for lol.
thats wat i thoguht too. Born used to be a powermover n now hes style, but apparently benny ben from rivers told me hes always tried to do style lol so i dunno
the tops are siccckk!!!!
@seymourglass26 but i tried to say born was on gabler crew, not gamblerz, with z. I really don't know if that's true, but a friend of mine, bboy since 98, told me that, and i saw peolpe sayin' this at youtube. I'm not sure, maybe i'm wrong. Peace!
Eastasiaflava, are you one of Born's students?
@5eanJKim Yes thats what Born claims. However one of the oldest battles of his makes him look nothing like a style head. I believe Born, but when he battled Joe it was obvious that he was being a powerhead.

I don't recall chair flares being simple power moves. I know he's a Style head, that much is true. But simply put that battle raised some questions.
The hell is a airchair style? Born didn't use that many Airchairs in that battle.

@bboydizzy69 Born, of course!
This is not born school, i guess this is rivers studio!
And Born become a stylehead since 2004. Before this, Born was a power move bboy form gambler (:

The slow spin he does at 0:11 is hard.
I tried doing it many times and I keep losing balance.

@peter16742 Man, you don't know how much shit you said in this comment!
This is real dance, powerheads will never can do something like this.
why not gamblers? why does it have to be BORN.
Maybe it's the hat but that definitely looks like a white guy, although he does have born's style so it might be him.
i like born more but machine would win
amen
@seymourglass26 Ok, mr. knowledge
well i wouldn't say he's biting..
i mean.. this is him teaching right? after all.. it is 'Foundation School'.. he's probably using ken swift's moves on purpose, to show the kids what foundation's all about.

Wrong. Bboy Born vs Bboy Joe proves differently.
this rly him?
@tremerin1 Dude, visit the Gamblerz website. Read their facebook page or their wikipedia. I'm not anything special, but I care enough about bboying to want to get the truth out there. No disrespect, just honesty. Peace.
You know some basic history of hip hop, good to see, but you still need to learn more from what I've seen from your posts around youtube.
But his six step and flares are cleaner than yours. Baek is dope, but just because a bboy pushes themselves to do more strength moves that look painful, doesn't make them a better bboy.

ur not called a bboy if u do just power moves thats breakdance theirs a difference
Baek moves to the music with sets he has planned, which is good, but it doesn't make him a freestyle bboy.

I love born for representing "Freshness" but he was off-beat for a lot of that set. Sorry, bro... I call it like I see.
@peter16742
you have NO idea what breaking is .
just cause someone doesn't do power moves,
doesn't mean they're 'amateur .
in breaking, no one is better than someone else,

boring
