Ok so i was sold. I went and purchased a kit. Fitting straight forward as long as you have basic knowledge. I took the live feed from the interior light through a switch before the monitor. Did tge same process for the rear camera as i didnt want it left live when van not being used. Image us really good, even at night without reversing light's on which is super when they are. So all in all , a good systems for the price.
A bit spooky... I've just bought a new dash cam with rear camera and plan to install it much the same way as you did. My car already has a reversing camera but I want a permanent rear view, plus recording if I get bumped whilst parked. (Happened twice in the last month!) Good job with how you did yours, and it seems to be decent quality for the price too. Van's looking so much better from all your hard work mate, well done.🖖
That is spooky!! That’s also really bad luck 😣 I can see why you’d want to be able to record. I have a plan for some recording cameras in the future but this was a great option for the short term! And thanks! I’m genuinely buzzing with the van. It’s turned out really well ☺️
I buy these cameras on eBay. Think the camera is about £10 including the wire and the monitor is about £15 and includes a bit more wire . Never had a problem with it and every van I've had i just sling them on . Excellent.
It’s a pretty good thing! And like you say, you can find it even cheaper too! I have to rethink the power tho. Turns out it has a light that comes on at night so the back of the vans lit up constantly when it’s dark so I’ve had to take the fuse out at night 😂😂 I’ll put a switch in at some point. 🤦🏻♂️😂 Thanks for watching and for the comment too 🤙
The only problem I can potentially see, is eventually the glue bond failing eventually and the camera yeeting off the self tapper and being lost down the road 😂, maybe eventually replace with m3 nut and bolt with nylon thread and rubber grommet to cover the hole up to stop water ingress,, amazing work as always adz ❤
I tried to bolt it but couldn’t fit the light back on with it in the way…but I’m going to rivet it on there. The self tapper won’t go far, the adhesive is making sure of that ☺️🤙 Thanks for the support! It’s awesome to get feedback too..I appreciate ya 🙏☺️
Now a rivit would be perfect good thinking, I just think its always good to positively bounce ideas off one another and can accomplish anything, as long as its in a positive way

Find a live feed from a fuse that switches on and off with the ignition.
The camera will draw 300miiliamps at most I reckon so youre battery will be fine. Youll be able to tell if it stays on as its probably got visible spectrum infra red LEDs on it. Itll glow red essentially. If you change your camera to 25 or 50fps it might to flicker on screen. Or if you are using 25/50 then try 30/60. And if you're using 24 then forget the above 🤣
Awesome advice! Thanks! An issue I didn’t expect, the camera being on all the time means the night lights come on when it gets dark 😂 I wasn’t expecting it. I’ll probably need to get it on a switch of some kind as people driving behind me at night will be livid with the light 😂🤦🏻♂️ I appreciate your comment very much. And thanks for watching! ☺️🤙
@@Kernomadz now, I hadn't considered that aspect actually. If it's red then it legal and no issues but it it's white light LED then it would illegal if was on the whole time as you can't have a rear facing white light. Well, I'm pretty sure you can't anyways. If the camera has 3 input wires then one is probably a neg or pos trigger. Wire that to the reverse light then it'll only fire up when it's in reverse. If not then you could use the neg from the reverse light of it's switched.
You would be better wiring the camera to your tail lights. When you want the camera just have your Parking lights or Headlights turned on. No power drain when you are not using the vehicle.
That’s a good shout tbh. I realised after the install that the camera has a floodlight for night vision so having it on all the time is out the question at night 😂🤦🏻♂️ Cheers for the advice 😎🤙

Using a rivnut will ensure the camera stays put and can be easily removed if need be.
100% agree mate. I’ll be doing that at some point for sure ☺️🤙
I used a bumper camera (same as a parking censor) blends in perfect and you don't notice it so no chance of it getting ripped off.
Sounds like a good plan! If this one lets me down, I’ll look at doing that 😎🤙
Thanks for watching! 🙏

@@Kernomadz I borrowed my daughter's red nail varnish to make the light red and just leave it on when the engine is running.
Great to see the regular upload schedule my man.
I’m about 8 away from the big thousand so I’ve been trying to keep it going 😂🤙
Sorry,78 …wishful thinking 😂🤦🏻♂️x
You need a remote wire. Either for when the engine starts or only when you reverse, you need a remote wire.
You’re absolutely right there mate. I’m having a look in to that as well speak 😂🤙
