Xee & Seng Traditional Hmong Wedding
Photographer's perspective: Most of the time at a traditional Hmong wedding before the bride is about to leave her parent's home to embark on a new journey, the mother and daughter moment is when the mother dresses her daughter up in traditional clothes selected by her. This time spent is when she also talks to her daughter, preps her daughter's heart to be wise, patient, kind and loving to her new family.
Not too long ago she lost her mother. On her wedding day she was dressed by her two older sisters and her aunts. Tears were streaming down everyone's cheeks. When I asked the bride and her sister to move closer to the window so I can get more lighting I noticed a large photo on the wall where they were standing. The bride (Xee) was looking at the photo of this beautiful lady and smiling in tears. That's when I noticed who she was, her mother.
As much as I want to hug her and tell her everything will be okay like a big brother would say to his little sister, I had to hold my emotions and keep snapping away to capture this moment for her.
Xee, I'm proud of you because you're very strong. Blessings to you and Seng from me as an older brother. Thank you for allowing me to experience and capture this moment for you. Best wishes
