Hello Aditya, Chemical Engineering in itself is a very versatile branch and doing B Tech under it can make you self equipped in the core principles and applications as well as in the non core sectors such as software development, IT etc.
Now, coming to your question, it depends on the company. Some software companies are open to all branches whereas some are only for CS. Having said that, there are ample amount of job opportunities available for you provided you prepare yourself according to a role from second/third year.
My advice will be take chemical engineering mainly because of your interest and along with that work on skillsets such as Software Development, AI, ML, Web Development. If you do so, you are placement ready as well as pave away a good path for your future as a chemical engineer as well!

@@CHBMOHDAASIMKHAN hello sir as a female candidate I am getting chemical, mechanical, civil, biotechnology and metallurgy in the new IITs and IIT Guwahati (chemical)
Sir my family is against doing mechanical and civil
I am interested in IT sector, mba and maybe will go in the chemical sector
I don't really have a problem with mechanical but everyone is saying it isn't good for girls and will face problems if I will do an MS in it
Kindly please guide what should I take if you can🙏

@@Solelymine Hi, First of all congratulations for clearing Jee Advanced and it is actually a good trouble to be in when you have more than one options!
Personally, I believe you should decide your college based on factors such as your interest, research opportunities, placement status of college and NIRF rank of college (if available). As you said you are interested in IT sector, you can choose either of chemical, civil or mechanical engineering as you can learn skillsets by yourself apart from the time being in college.
As per my experience, the female turnout in MS is consistently low as compared to males across branches. Rather, if you plan to have MS in future the most important aspect is "your" interest in that branch. And surely, you can find ample number of opportunities of doing MS within India and abroad.
Hope that can help. Best of Luck!

@@CHBMOHDAASIMKHAN ohh alright sir! Thankyou, I just wanted to know if I will join a new IIT will it limit my opportunities to go abroad for studies?

@@Solelymine Specifically about higher studies my personal experience being from a new IIT is you will get ample opportunities to study abroad. Many of my colleagues from IIT Tirupati have got MS opportunities in US, Germany, Netherlands, Canada etc. It will be a function of your interest, your projects and your relations with faculties.
However if you have an option of getting branch of your interest between an old and a new IIT, you may prefer an old IIT.
