As an automaker, Nissan's executives have wasted a lot of time on scrambling power instead of making a sound development plan. Ghosn's departure determined the end of Nissan.
Carlos Ghosn must be chuckling to himself. The company has gone downhill since he was fired although I am not sure he could have 'saved' the company twice.
Looking for potential investor(s) for an legacy ICE vehicles? It's much better for the potential buyer(s) to wait for it to go under and get it for next to nothing.
Nissan's main issue is lack of accountability from their CEO with regard to their CTV transmissions. Trying to get funding is pointless until they get a new CEo who can piunt them in the right direction with a new vision for this company to survive
Note that Japan’s debt is mostly internal debt, unlike US debt which is external and the biggest in the world, at that. Internal debt means the government has little room to maneuver but Japan is not in danger of going broke like the US is.
I don’t think any country that issues its own currency can go broke because it sets its own interest rates. Debt might become worthless but that’s a different issue. On the other hand a country which does not have a sovereign currency like an EU member or one using the US$ could very easily go bust.
Sandy Munro said incumbent manufacturers are doomed some time ago. It's happening. Looking for a new car after my model x is due back off lease. My local Nissan franchise doesn't have a Aria to test drive, and said they are unlikely to get one any time soon!
Nissan's quality took a huge dive in the early 2000's when they became involved with Renault. Previously their cars were great but they were unprofitable due to a refusal to close factories and stop manufacturing older models - the renault relationship changed that, but also changed the quality of the product. These days, most consumers wont touch Nissan because of their CVT and timing chain issues. IMO they could have been a market leader in the same running as Toyota and Honda were it not for the Renault connection and old fashioned leadership.
Is kinda funny how Nissan was in this Position before, they hired Carlos Goshn to wrangle them out of the position. They got rid of Goshn, and now they face the same problem again.

Most likely they’re done. Is there enough value in the brand? I don’t think so, if there was a Chinese buyer might be found but what is there to gain?
When I was a kid, news programs would have relevant videos. I never would have imagined that news programs in the future would consist of irrelevant rapidly cycled videos inserted automatically by a computer program.
Good idea. Like MG buy the brand and use BYD as the tech under the hood.
Kind of sad seeing It was a 80s Nissan Maxima later a Pulsar that got me through HS and college. Inexpensive, 100% reliable. Just add gas and go. I remember forgetting the last time I filled up or even changed oil. Just drive.
How does Nissan get into an employees house to do this? B&E in Japan is legal?
Thanks for the video. One thing to add, Japan's debt is owned >90% by Japanese rich families. In other words, Japanese own Japan, just not their government ;).
The Datsun 1500C was a great little car.
Nissan's problem.... With ICE vehicles.... Is they are far below honda or toyota in quality.... And that's their main competition. Quality and resale matter to consumers. Consumers who have a choice.
Reputation matters in the long term.....period.
Toyota quality has really fallen off in the past few years. Don't fool yourself. They are no longer the great auto company they used to be.
@@dadanomadi834the trucks? Yes. The rest of their lineup I would take over anything American or European made
Nissan hasn't been the same since 2004. It's gone downhill. We have a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder and it's the best SUV ever.
They fitted Ghosn up because he tried to save the company.
Bet he's laughing once this bad news came out.
Sad that it has come to this for a company which used to rival Toyota for quality and reliability.
Nissin (the way Sam pronounces it) makes instant noodles. Nissan makes cars. It’s like the difference between the word ‘yawn’ and ‘lawn’. Maybe subtle but a huge difference in meaning. 🤦
It’s a race between Nissan and Jaguar…
My money is on Jaguar, so far they have proven they don't sell cars.😂
No, I think Nissan does not Woke.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Starmer and Milliband will be happy if the factory in the UK closes?🤨
+1 for the use of the word “shambolic”!
Desperate times for car manufacturers. Nissan and Renault had actually adopted and embraced EV tech too. Governments are to blame and there will be a reckoning.
After the Ghosn Saga, I doubt anyone would dare to turn that ship around.....
If Honda bought Nissan and Mitsubishi, this could lead to a Japanese general motors? You know what I mean a company with multiple brands that cater to different market needs and what about infinity and Acura?
Culprit "BAD CVT transmissions" installed on most Nissan models since 2003, now they are paying the price and go ahead blame JATCO (Japanese Automatic Transmission Company)...Karma!!!
Spot on
My first car was a Nissan Sentra. Really sad to see them devolve over the past 20 years.
I hope that Nissan UK can survive.
Probably, the Sunderland plant is often viewed as one the most productive and automated in Europe. Although, I wonder if Renault will take ownership of the Sunderland plant with the surrounding tech company expertise (robotics, software etc.) as part of the Nissan sale terms.
Sad to see them in this situation. My first car was a Datsun , simple car pour fuel and run.
As an automaker, Nissan's executives have wasted a lot of time on scrambling power instead of making a sound development plan.
Ghosn's departure determined the end of Nissan.
Going in with renault was a death move..
Nissan had 25 years of borrowed time. They were in the same situation in 1999.
My little k11 Micra keeps trucking along happily. Maybe go back to building cars like that Nissan?
Mine too!
Nissan is predicted to be failing but Suzuki? Now thats a problem coz they make great affordable cars and cheap maintenance…
Nissan's main issue is lack of accountability from their CEO with regard to their CTV transmissions. Trying to get funding is pointless until they get a new CEo who can piunt them in the right direction with a new vision for this company to survive
Thanks!
Nissan used to make some good cars in the 90s
Japan has a huge debt, that's true, but this debt is owned by Japanese (they save a lot).
They make great hybrids, they just don’t release it in North America. Look at Nissan e-power
The world should carefully watch what is happening to car factories, not to allow deliberate dismantling of brand car factories
isn't it owned by renault group? wouldnt' Reanualt kick in some dollars
Carlos : come back? No thanks. You're on your own.
Btw, in an interview in Lebanon, he pronounced his name as Carlos Gosen, not Carlos Gon.
I think a lot of experts in this field remember auite well what happened to Carlos Goshn
When your most outstanding car is called Godzilla, you know you are a dinosaur.
Sandy Munro said incumbent manufacturers are doomed some time ago. It's happening. Looking for a new car after my model x is due back off lease. My local Nissan franchise doesn't have a Aria to test drive, and said they are unlikely to get one any time soon!
Sam keeps reiterating this, but I always thought USA was by far the most indebted country in the world, not Japan??
If it takes 10,000 executives to run a company they need to go under...
He has a semicolon in there, title not written well
Nissan's quality took a huge dive in the early 2000's when they became involved with Renault.
Apart from the Y62, what else do they make that's decent😂
I had predicted that a Nissan takeover or bankruptcy would have happened by yr end '24. The fact that there is still ~12 months left is shocking.
Are you saying Japan has a larger deficit than the USA, which is over $23 trillion. Really?
Is kinda funny how Nissan was in this Position before, they hired Carlos Goshn to wrangle them out of the position.
They got rid of Goshn, and now they face the same problem again.
