Yes in the 90's Nissan were a mark of reliability in the same way as Toyota and Honda. Since the tie up with Renault the brand was cheapened. I don't like the direction of most car makers. I still want a naturally aspirated, petrol vehicle for reliability. For me that's Honda, Toyota, Suzuki or Mazda lately but even these have started selling small turbo powered petrols and hybrids.

I own 2 Nissans. Both run very well and never had any serious issues. I have a 2021 Murano that has been leaning from the day I got it. Nissan refuses to repair it, although it's visible. My horn doesn't work, and they won't fix it. So I said I'll wait for the new Murano, and it's so unappealing. Looks good inside, but outside is a downgrade in appearance and appeal. Now I hope to get a great deal on the Armada. I really like the new Armada

Nissan REALLY needs to merge with: Mazda, Subaru, Mitsubishi and Isuzu, ASAP, and focus on a limited lineup of cars: small hatchback, small sedan, mid-sized sedan, small SUV, large SUV and small truck, under 1 brand and work like hell to eliminate waste. Japan should really only have 3 automakers: Toyota, Honda and the combined automakers brand, otherwise, there's virtually no chance of survival against Chinese brands. The same should go with EU brands, they need to combine to only 3, VW, Stellantis, combined BMW/Mercedes, and focus on the same vehicles, and the U.S., only GM, Ford, Tesla and combined Lucid/Rivian.

This is a bit harsh but if Nissan is really that close to bankruptcy or acquisition, that's really sad. They were a great auto company once upon a time, and (IMHO) still make some great vehicles. The Rogue crossover is one of the top vehicles in its class in the U.S. I don't understand why they don't release the EV-generator version in the U.S.; it might sell pretty well. We have a Leaf that's a really nice, affordable little EV and we love it. Anyway, I hope they pull through this, one way or the other. Probably will have to partner with another big auto maker to survive.
