I used to watch this video and cry to myself alone. I’m back again after encountering it unexpectedly in my feed… and it seems I never truly left behind the tears it reignites. I’ll never be his Cinderella, my dad wouldn’t say yes to dancing, not unless he meant evil for it. I’m already gone, and maybe he knows it. He will never get a chance to truly dance with me, give me away, protect me, or meet any man I might find.
I'm so so sorry. My heart breaks for you. I pray God heals your heart and one day you can be a part of a young girl's life where you can nurture and protect this type of relationship.

It's hard to listen to this song bc I know this is how my Dad feels. I'm 14 and my parents just met my boyfriend for the 1st time. My Dad and I are really close, and every time I talk about my boyfriend my Dad gets a little uneasy. I'm his only daughter and I have 2 younger brothers, which makes me the oldest. My Dad is afraid of loosing me when I get older, and I'd like to say that I know for sure in my heart that this boy that I'm with is the 1 that I am going to spend the rest of my life with and I want my Dad to be apart of both of our lives every step of the way. Especially since my boyfriend's father is no longer in the picture as of now. I hope my Dad loves him just as much as he loves me. Bc my boyfriend is a part of me, he's everything I need and more, I hope my Dad loves him the way he loves me bc my boyfriend never really had a normal childhood, or a normal Dad. I love them both and I want to be their girl for the rest of my life. I've always been a Daddy's Girl though.
