Hey Jack - I happened to be in Knoxville back in October - I’m from Vancouver - I also went to Wild Honey and Houston helped me out too - really enjoyed that store - kinda tiny, but a nice collection. Hope your move goes well.
I was lucky enough to see Phil Woods at Ronnie Scott’s in London about 2 years before he passed away. I have that LP and yes it’s very good. The Sheriff is a nice find too. I need more Art Farmer in my collection. That Art Pepper looks like part of a 4 LP set released last year for RSD. Alfie may be my favorite Sonny Rollins recording. Nice picks all around. Thanks for sharing
You're probably right about he Pepper. I have he box set(RSD) at home---I'll have to check it.. Thanks for the comment and for watching!--Jack
Art Farmer And MJQ nice finds
We are moving so my sound system is still back in Washington. I'm flying back there tomorrow so I won't hear these records for about 6 weeks--I know them though and am anxious to hear them again... the joys of moving I guess!-Thanks for the comment an d for watching--Jack
Have always wondered what the record scene is like in Knoxville. Been to Memphis and Nashville both. Now I can live vicariously through you on the Knoxville scene. Great video Jack!
.... for jazz the 2 laces I've been are just ok.. not Seattle or bigger cities. Basement has some good stuff but its been picked through. I'll be going to Charlotte and elsewhere!. Maybe the 2 other stores I havn't been to are better? its ok--after moving these records... maybe I have enough anyway!!-Thanks--like you podcasts too!--JG
@@Jackgrahamphotograph Hahaha. I don’t envy moving amounts of records. Hopefully movers were involved! Thanks for the kind words on the podcasts! 🙏🏻
Wild honey is okay. Lost and found has records about 10 dollars cheaper. Although they’re usually reprints and the jackets are in bad condition. Giving away a good spot. Four season’s antiques has about 2 sections are good priced vintage records. Alot of them wrecked first pressings
Southland Books and Cafe has a lot of LPs. They are in Maryville. Not as good as Basement… not really organized, too much digging you have to do. But I did get a very nice 60s reissue of Modern Jazz Quartet Fontessa, late 70s Shelly Manne Essence, and an early 80s Ahmad Jamal at Montreal.
Last time I was in Knoxville/Maryville area, Basement was temporarily closed. That was a bummer
Jack , we have noble records, hardy boy record, repo record, lunch box record, and the vault,it a record fair this Saturday in Charlotte, nc 👌
yes---I'll get over there as soon as we are in K'ville 100% (April-May!) can't wait!--JG
I have that same Woody Shaw.. good sound/recording, good music.. only thing is there’s a 2 or 3 minute interview at the end if side 2 between a reporter and Woody. Meh.
Are you moving to Maryville area by chance?
I like wild Honey records I go to the oak ridge one usually. What I'm in Knoxville are usually hit Raven records and lost and found. Good luck with your move to Knoxville
