This song takes me back to my first love in high school, we've dated throughout high school. One day, he called me to tell me that his family is moving them away to Madison, WI. I then later found out that my family and I will be moving to Portland, OR. Knowing that we'll never going to see each other again, we agreed to break-up. Shortly after moving to Portland, I met my husband, moved to CA, started a family and moved on with my life. It's been 25yrs and every now and then, I still see him in my dreams just like how we were back in high school.

I went through a lot of romances in my younger years. gosh, I dated over a thousand guys if you can believe that. I wasn't like any other girl. I was a THEIF OF HEARTS. Whoever wasn't careful got his heart broke by me. And I was ruthless and didn't care to glance back at all. Then cupidis arrow hit me a few times. With so much care, I made it out alive...but then I experienced some vulnerability and some good heart breaks of my own to nurse for life. I got it really good with my ex-fiancee who was STOLEN from me by a 16 year old girl who fell in love with my 25 years old fiancee. Broke us up for life. I finally met my true love at age 36. To make matter worse, a fortune teller told me at age 18 that my true love was VERY far away, he didn't mean distance, he meant TIME. how crappy was that? So yeah, this song hits home for me too. So FATE is real. I had my own journey to fight fate. IN fact, my first album was called PHEEJ TXOJ HMOO. But in reality, we can't win over fate. You can try...and hope for the best but Destiny is pretty much set in stone and written in the stars. I'll still fight, and pray a LOT. But be prepared for the worse too. Because not everybody ends up with a happy ending. At age 50, I've lived a lot of life. I'm grateful for what I have. But experiencing loss is very hard. This song is particularly hard to sing. The transitions are very challenging. Only a truly good singer can do them flawlessly. I' not even sure I could do it at this age. The way Shaunn does it.
