He was only interested in shaping Spain in his vision. Why? Then...and this gets tricky...we may have had an iron curtain in the northwest of europe. Nevertheless, Spain rellied a lot economicaly on the allies, and added to the situation of the country before the war, being at war with them would have been a disaster. So I would say that it was a combination of both Hitler not wanted or not needed Spain, and the necesity of trade with the allies for the economy. (Also Uk bribed a lot of spanish generals to convince Franco to stay out)
Stalin lived on the other side of Europe. Stalin wouldn't have been in Spain had the Republicans won, any more than Hitler and Mussolini were by their support of Franco.
