A true gem lost in time. Don't think of me as old...61...have been playing video games since the 70s. It has kept me young. This game holds a special place in my heart. It is a true classic. Have the original Sega CD of luna 1 and 2. In pristine condition. Will never lose my love or nostalgia for them.
I remember I played this in PS1 when I was in high school and never finished it (left it at the Black Fiend). That was around 2001-2002. Last month, I remembered this gem and bought an Anbernic to play this and some others and just finished it after about 22 years. I remember how much I loved it back then, and now I love it even more. It is a true underrated gem of a game.
Lunar 1 and 2 was the first game i bought by myself when i was young, i remember it was no were to be found and i went to rental and keep bugging them to sell them to me and finaly got them and still have them.
My favorite part here is at 2:45 I love how Hiro looks back at Lunar thinking about what he left and if he’ll miss home. Then he looks back at Lucia and she looks at him, you see it in his face that he knows it was all worth leaving to be with her. Then they kiss. So beautiful. Love this game and this ending still gives me chills.
Keep the memory alive in 2024. Nostalgia to the max. I played this on playstation and just happen to randomly found this along with audio cd, lucia's pendant, and a art book at a regular game shop. Was a good birthday present from my mom when i said yea lets get this. No regrets for getting it
Damn. I haven't played EB for 24 years (and EBC for 20 years), yet seeing this ending still brings tears to my eyes. THAT is how you make a game. And I am STILL waiting for a Lunar anime series :)
I have been saying this since I played the damn game, 25 years ago. I'm so surprised it hasn't happened yet!! The world of Lunar anime series would be amazing!!!
When I streamed this game last year, it was my first time seeing this ending in about 20 years. I’m pretty sure I cried during this song, or else I came really close.
I think there's something to be said for a story that knows when it's time to call it, even if people want more. Lunar really didn't need anything tacked on.
In my opinion, this is the BEST RPG on the ps1. Yeah, even beating FF 7 >-> and 8, and 9. Like, those I can go back to, but the Lunar series I go back to at least once a year, they're just SO good. Ugh Lunar needs to come back.... Hell I wouldn't mind a REMAKE of this one, like with Secret of Mana? I'd be down for that.
My dad got me this game and I only got to the flower boss before Tropical Storm Allison ate my PS1. If I had known how beautiful (and rare) this game was I would have dove into that backed up bayou water to grab the collection. My dad always said I had no idea what it cost him to get me a game he thought I would enjoy. I hope there is a remake so I can finally beat it
my heart will find a place... even for a far. our love forever shall be ..... destiny..... yeah all the goddes surrender their immortality for love......
One of the best games during the 90's, for NA release. I still have the PS1 release of both Lunar and Lunar 2 and all the collection items that came with each, even the pendent.
See that's what I'm talking about, the hero went and got his girl, loved her and didn't want to live without her. Go get your woman Hiro lol but truthfully this was an awesome ending to an awesome story. Lucia and Hiro ftw
Lunar 2: Eternal Blue (Ture Ending Credits Songs Epilogue in PlayStation Ps1) Leo is known as the White Knight of Althena in Lunar and is one of the Four Heroes. He is also the brother of Mauri and best friend to Ronfar. He is a loyal member of an organization called Althena’s Guard, a group charged with bringing the message of the Goddess Althena to Lunar and stopping all wrong-doing in the name of the Goddess. Leo vigorously pursues a being known only as “The Destroyer”, said to bring catastrophe to Lunar. Leo is considerably powerful and is said to wield the power of the White Dragon. He pilots the Dragonship Destiny with great pride and skill. Alice laments to herself that she does not deserve the first man she fell in love with (Hiro), but wishes that he will find a way to Lucia on the Blue Star.
I have played video games for 30 years, and I have finished around 100 JRPGs so far in my life. This Lunar 2 ending really have a special position in my heart, and this is probably the warmest the sweetest the unforgettable ending I ever seen
HA! 3:32! Forever immortal in a video game! Haiku Contributer. :) What's makes it even sweeter is this was uploaded on my birthday :D Great game, I really wish Game Arts would do a remake for PSP!
I just spent 100 hours over two months beating L:SSSC and L2:EBC. It's been 20 years since I last played these games... It was worth it to come back. Really mixed emotions tonight as I just beat the Star Dragon. It's been a fun ride. They just don't make games like this anymore.
Remember what happened with Ruby? Ruby was sad about the same thing, but Hiro gave her an encouraging speech that good memories last forever and as long as memories stay, you can be with the ones close to you in your heart. I think Hiro will tell Lucia similar things to what he said to Ruby when she grew up.
Great way to think about it. I haven't played these games in 20 years, but just beat them back-to-back over 2 months. Really brought me back to my childhood. Mixed emotions tonight as I listen to the outtakes as I type this.
Aaaah.. this game is just pure nostalgia.. those times when my heart and anemia would act up, this is one of the games that kept me company.. :) still loved Lucia's expression when she saw Hiro :3
what a long and long game...!! ...but...i was crying...this game very very...oh...i'm crying again.. i'll do everything for my love...like hiro...a long journey for two..but after all...i'm very happy they're together...love this game so much...love lucia so much much much....oh..i'm crying again again when i watch this ending...
I love the ending but it left a few loose ends Hiro will die of old age living Lucia alone again? Does Lucia have enough power to teleport both her and Hiro back to Lunar? If possible to make Hiro immortal how will Lucia do it? Or will she pull a Luna move. But that would leave the Blue Star no one to protect. How did the Blue Star revive after Hiro arrived? Was it just waiting for someone else coming to the planet?
@Tiercel5 I beat the original game on the sega cd...so long ago. I remember after I beat it, I could still walk around the world map...but I didn't know what I was suppose to do. Was I suppose to return to the ruins where the game begins??? You know, the ruins where Hiro is hanging upside down trying to pry a emerald out of the wall?
I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and man the whole ending just seems very sweet until you peek into the fridge of it all: In the manga, Zophar cruelly taunts Hiro and Lucia about how Hiro will grow old and die and leave Lucia alone again. I imagine him simply telling this to Hiro and Lucia in game would have been a bigger gut-punch than any other attack he could have done, especially in that final form he does where he does almost no damage. I still wish they made Lunar 3 and tied up some of the many loose ends, its very vague what happens with Lucia and Hiro. The idea of Hiro dying and leaving Lucia alone all over again is just seriously depressing, man. But then she could just have pulled a Luna and cast away her divinity for love.
Man, I could never beat Lunar 2; true Zophar was way too strong after he loses Althena’s power, made me wonder why he wanted it in the first place. But I would still watch the videos off the game disc and this ending was just so damn beautiful. But damn, the first Lunar was a lot easier to beat than Lunar 2, that’s for sure.
I just beat both games in the last 2 months (20 years after I originally played them). I grind a lot more now; that made L:SSSC a lot easier at the end. L2:EB2 was laughably easy at points toward the end as I overleveled, but even at level 59 for everyone Zophar SUCKED. I nearly lost, but managed to scrape by. I learned after I beat Zophar that I could've farmed Chiro Mongrels to be WAY overleveled for Zophar, which would've made him easy. Ended up making the epilogue super-easy, though. I didn't even need to heal vs. the Star Dragon with a level 76 Hiro.
Maybe my memory is wrong... but I'm sure that I have watched a video in youtube that shows Ruby in her human form with nal in some animation... I guess I was imagining things?
@SeribialX I want to say that Game Arts didn't have any plans, but if the fans want it enough, to send emails to XSeed. I hope that they come through with that though. I love the Lunar series, but kinda getting tired of playing Silver Star so many times :P
They can't redo it at the moment since nobody knows what they want to do with the licenses. The Lunar series is currently owned by like three different companies.
@dynelol Nall had to watch his friends die, but is he miserable? Maybe a little bit...but the happy memories he had will always be there to comfort him. Besides they might have a kid. :)
Just beat the game an hour ago and I feel like that ending wasn't worth all the trouble of the epilogue lol. I really wanted to see Vane fly again before the game was over. Also wanted Lucia to explain why she went back to the Blue Star. Was really expecting more dialogue from Hiro and Lucia. Ah well at least the Star Dragon wasn't an hour+ fight like Zophar.
Just finished the game right now and Hiro and Jean kept talking about a singing festival that Lucia should enter and be the winner... having heard this song before on RPGamer Radio and recognizing the melodyr all throughout the 40-hour-long-plus game, I was fully expecting Hiro to get Lucia back from the Blue Star to enter that singing competition in a glorious anime full-motion-video ending with Lucia singing, Jean dancing and me crying my heart out. Needless to say.. it didn't happen. This was sort of a let down for me because I was hearing the vocal melody from the very start of the game and I was sure the singed version would have a big spot somewhere along the story... With the recorded version being in the game and the whole "singing competition" that never happens, I imagine this is what the developers wanted to do but probably had to cut it out, like things in the later portions of a game often will T.T Very solid game though, definitely worth playing, even in 2017! Not many 20-year-old games can say that
tukkek well, remember that this game is a remake so if that was something the developers intended to do then they had a second chance to do it... Maybe I would think differently if I had played this game in my youth like most of the commenters here, but this ending wasn't all that satisfying. I think the fanbase for these games is a lot more creative than the creators, but you can probably say that about most works fiction. Seriously, I got my ass kicked for 30 more hours than I needed to just for some deranged laughter (it doesn't look right imo), "Hiro!", and a kiss?
That's not exactly true: the Eternal Blue edition is a port from the Sega Saturn version to the Playstation 1. It wasn't made by the original developers but by a english localization team - and even though they managed to squeeze in some additional content (like the outtakes at the end of the game and some new cutscenes), there's only so much they can do as an independent team messing around with other people's product... I've read many reviews that say the game is pretty hard and that hasn't been my experience at all. Maybe I'm too much of an old RPG gamer but I breezed through all of the game, including (especially) the epilogue, which is supposed to be "mega-magic" hard. I managed to end the game with over a million silver coins, even when the final areas are designed to be money sinks. The only part I had to spend a couple hours or more leveling up and retrying was the final Zolphar battle, which in itself was very satisfying to finally conquer. I'm not saying that to brag but to offer the perspective that the game didn't feel like a chore at all - kinda repetitive here and there but fair enough and very solid. My 40h+ hours put into Eternal 2 were enjoyable and the story and achievements of progress were plenty to justify me keeping going at it! Even the epilogue, which I found easy, felt very cool just to be spamming my ultimate powers in every random battle and actually experiencing my party as ultimate epic heroes, instead of just being told "the game is over, you saved the world, your heroes live on as legends happily ever after, thanks, bu-bye". As I said last time, yes, I was expecting a beautiful "true" ending that'd bring tears of joy to my eyes in its sheer beauty and sense of completion - so I agree with you that it was disappointing. But you can't really blame anyone for failing to move you to tears or anything like that, especially over a second, optional, bonus ending. The fact this video here wasn't all it kept selling me it would be didn't ruin my experience at all.
All right if you want to get technical about it, the sequence goes: Mega CD original (Lunar: Eternal Blue) -> Saturn remake -> Playstation port -> Working Designs localization of the PS1 port. The Silver Star followed a similar sequence and they changed the storyline significantly when they remade it for the Saturn. For the Eternal Blue Saturn remake the story was mostly left untouched so there are only minor plot differences between EB and EBC. That is when they could have done something about the singing competition: when they remade the game for the 32-bit generation. But now that I think about this...I'm getting confused. Was the singing competition even mentioned in the original Japanese scripts? Was it something that WD invented just to add 'flavor' to the script like they've been known to do? I guess the only way to know would be to read the Japanese scripts...Or you could ask about it on the Lunar Threads forums. They like these kinds of questions. Tell them Uncle Ramus sent you haha As for me not being happy with the ending, let's just leave it at my heart being as ice, so cold
That last line cracked me up, wasn't expecting it at all - but yea, you're not wrong for expecting more from the ending... Thank you for your clarification, I thought the PS1 port and the english localization were both one and the same. That makes it 2 chances of enhancing the ending: the Saturn port and later on for the PS1 too. Anyway, my initial argument isn't invalid for that: companies usually just don't have the budget to enhance the game when they''re doing a porting effort. Maybe they thought that for Silver Star Story it was critical for its success... I'm not sure about the japanese script but if you want to see where the festival is mentioned, GameFAQs has a Game Script guide, it's easy to find the relevant paragraph by searching (CTRL+F) for the phrase "dancing and drinking" www.gamefaqs.com/ps/197807-lunar-2-eternal-blue/faqs/52436
so . . is there any story or explanation after this? do they continue to live in lunar or they returned to blue star? i wish they give some explanation.
To my understanding, the main thing with the blue star (aka earth) is that it was uninhabitable because of the long winter after the battle between Althena and Zophar. Eternal Blue’s ending points to the long winter ending, so it’s possible people started living on earth again at some point. Official nothing has been done, since I believe Lunar Magic School (the game made after this one) was a side story.

I was like 13 when I beat this game. Im 30 now and the ending still gets to me...awesome game with a beautiful story
I just read your comment from 10 years ago, now you are 40 wow. Love this game
I played the original of this game on the Sega CD when I was 14. Now I'm 39 and it really does have a special place in my heart! Best RPG EVER!!!
Two decades or so since i played it and it still remains one of my favourite rpg ending and ending song ever!!
Still to this day, it makes me cry..
I cry every time. Every. Time.
IM IN MY 30's but whenever i play these game makes feel alive and like a kid. NOSTALGIA BABY
Still gets me right there.
Lunar 1 and 2 was the first game i bought by myself when i was young, i remember it was no were to be found and i went to rental and keep bugging them to sell them to me and finaly got them and still have them.
That's awesome.
My favorite part here is at 2:45
I love how Hiro looks back at Lunar thinking about what he left and if he’ll miss home.
Then he looks back at Lucia and she looks at him, you see it in his face that he knows it was all worth leaving to be with her. Then they kiss.
So beautiful.
Love this game and this ending still gives me chills.
I was 15 when I played this game, hope can go back to the past
Keep the memory alive in 2024. Nostalgia to the max. I played this on playstation and just happen to randomly found this along with audio cd, lucia's pendant, and a art book at a regular game shop. Was a good birthday present from my mom when i said yea lets get this. No regrets for getting it
One of my favorite endings ever in any game. So satisfying. This and ico's epilogue ending are the best.
I'd prefer Lunar 3, but I'd take a Lunar anime.
When I streamed this game last year, it was my first time seeing this ending in about 20 years. I’m pretty sure I cried during this song, or else I came really close.
another good franchise which we will never see again
I was glad it was remade for playstation 1
I think there's something to be said for a story that knows when it's time to call it, even if people want more. Lunar really didn't need anything tacked on.
@@thomasknapp6434 it doesnt have to be a full sequel. A side story about the destruction of lunar is already good.
Remake/remaster for both games in 2024 announced for ps4/5
I LOVE this game… both Lunar 1 and 2 are just SO GREAT!!
Oh god... my childhood....
this game is so nostalgic and magical. I miss games like these
Truly JRPG that I’d say on par with FF classic series. The songs are just memorable
In my opinion, this is the BEST RPG on the ps1. Yeah, even beating FF 7 >-> and 8, and 9. Like, those I can go back to, but the Lunar series I go back to at least once a year, they're just SO good. Ugh Lunar needs to come back....

rather have true sequel made by gamearts
My dad got me this game and I only got to the flower boss before Tropical Storm Allison ate my PS1. If I had known how beautiful (and rare) this game was I would have dove into that backed up bayou water to grab the collection. My dad always said I had no idea what it cost him to get me a game he thought I would enjoy. I hope there is a remake so I can finally beat it
@@greenghost7907 you need to find this game on ebay or even amazon and buy it! It's amazing!!! I'd sell you mine, but it's priceless to me.
Hiro And Lucia Toghther
i wanna cry, beautiful song
You dont see endings like these anymore, the type of endings that gives you closure to the game but would welcome more sequels of it if possible.
that look on hiro´s face at 2:56 says something like this "yep, Im awesome. i fucking did IT! first man on the moon!"
after revisiting my beat list of ps1 games, I had to put this on the top :) I don't think any game on ps1 made me as happy and sad at the same time
Em pleno 2022 e eu ainda me arrepio todo assistindo ao verdadeiro final dessa obra de arte. Esses sim representavam os jogos de verdade.
Well we have remaster at least for now
my heart will find a place... even for a far. our love forever shall be ..... destiny..... yeah all the goddes surrender their immortality for love......
lunar 2 is my best rpg in psone
The best and emotional game ever! Soundtrack, story, everything
One of the best games during the 90's, for NA release.

Me too!! Both games have a very tear jerking yet very feel good feeling to them. I miss these games.
Games like this don't exist anymore. This heart needs to come back to gaming.
Yeah, I luv it and the song too it's incredible XD
Alex And Luna Love Eacher
Hero And Lucia Love Eacher
The music cutting in at 1:35 always gives me goosebump and it just gets better from there.
I love the ending but it left a few loose ends
Hiro will die of old age living Lucia alone again?
Does Lucia have enough power to teleport both her and Hiro back to Lunar?
If possible to make Hiro immortal how will Lucia do it? Or will she pull a Luna move. But that would leave the Blue Star no one to protect.
How did the Blue Star revive after Hiro arrived? Was it just waiting for someone else coming to the planet?
They are going to restore and repopulate the blue star and there is no return to lunar
Best 2D RPG ever!
This reminds me how much i like this game. It's deffinately my favorite rpg.
one of the best video game endings

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if that *is* what she did.
They left the door open for interpretation here.
Entirely possible Lucia would share her divinity so they both stay together
1st Rpg I ever played. Now I wanna play again 😩

Since I will never get around to playing this game ever again. Why couldn't we return to the ruins in the beginning? Thanks Tiercel
*knock knock*

Tell them Uncle Ramus sent you haha
As for me not being happy with the ending, let's just leave it at my heart being as ice, so cold

Leo is on top of the Mystic Ruins
so . . is there any story or explanation after this? do they continue to live in lunar or they returned to blue star? i wish they give some explanation.
LOL... Silver Star Story ends with Luna being naked wrapped in a sheet and this one ends with Lucia being naked wrapped in a sheet
