You nailed it. Thank you. Replaced the o-ring with the size you mentioned in the comments. Perfect! These machines are very well made but purposely built to be thrown away hence not being able to buy the o-ring from the manufacturer. Your channel saved me $200.00 and gave me satisfaction for beating our throw away culture. Thank you!
Thanks for the hints about catches. I dismounted mine, washed everything (god, the white nozzle was so dirty!) and put parts back without even changing the O-ring and leak is almost gone, in fact letting the internal pressure drop with a clean nozzle seems to be sufficient for the gasket to become watertight again... I Could Do It !
Thank you for putting this video up you gave me the confidence to have a go at fixing my Pixie. I was nervous to take my machine apart but it was so leaky it was barely useable so I felt I had nothing to lose. It was a frustrating process taking off the casing but I watched your video (some parts several times!) and part of another. I am so happy to say that it appears to have fixed it for the £2 cost of a bag of assorted o rings (and a few choice swear words). It's such a shame that the part that is most likely to need replacing and the part that needs the most cleaning is so deeply buried inside the machine.
Great video, I took it to bits, it never went back together. I'm now looking for another🤣🤣🤣 No complaints I had 3 years of use. Congratulations to Nespresso making a machine which can't be easily dismantled or repaired.🙄
For anyone having a hard time detaching the second part of the outer shell: Inside the hollow part where the used cups fall into there is a part in the middle with a bit of an angle. This is a wedge holding the brewing unit tight to the shell. You have to lift that part below and pull out the wedge, so you can remove the shell. I found it in an online manual, thankfully before I ripped the shell apart out of frustration
Hey Sebastiaan, do you mind sharing the link to the manual ? I have a hard time removing this second part. There's a inside clip I cannot see which hold the shell. I already broke several small clip ! EDIT: I find this interesting one: www.manualslib.com/manual/888212/Nespresso-Pixie-C.html?page=35#manual
This sorted me right out. All I had to do was clean the tiny white plunger as sediment had built up around it and it couldn't produce a good seal. This meant the high pressure was creating a back flow into the main body of the machine and was pouring out the bottom. Great video!!
Thank you so much! The o-ring in mine had been displaced at some point, probably when we moved, so between that and the ghastly residue in the white nozzle barely any water or coffee made their way where they were supposed to. Got super stuck halfway through the disassembly because I didn’t notice we had to remove the wedge at the front, luckily someone in the comments mentioned it, but other than that everything was perfect. The funniest part was how quickly everything snapped back into place after spending SO mich time prying it apart...
Great video thanks. I've fixed mine by replacing the same o ring. Struggled getting the machine out of the casing and snapped a couple of bits but its working fine now :-)
Bought a 2nd hand for cheap with a leak during pumping. Did not know what it was. Thanks to your clip and two others I could take it apart without breaking anything. After opening I just traced the chalk trail from the leaking water, which lead to that black cap with the chalk on the bottom, which is the pressure regulator. Unscrewing that thing is prevented same way a tie wrap works. Cutting that thingy away I could unscew it, de-chalk, and put it together with vaseline on the silicon edges and moving parts. Thanks to that lube I could screw it tighter than before and after test, the leak was gone: that saves another 15~20 euros.
I’d check area around where the capsule is pressed maybe some old coffee is preventing a sea other wise check where the water is coming from. Ie inside the machine or from the capsule area. It all depends which machine you have as they are built slightly different. Hope this helps. You can do it 👍
Quality video. Only thing that is missing is that you need to pull the vertical plastic arm forward and wiggle it down in the drip tray recess in order to be able to take both of the sides off.
Oooh I was doing so well, I was down to removing the plunger at 7:50. Unfortunately you didn’t show that step! I didn’t realize that the big spring is compressed behind the plunger, and in trying to release the two clips, one broke. There’s no way to recover I’m afraid, as that spring applies a lot of force and just the one clip won’t hold. If anyone else tries to follow this video, compress the plunger really hard, like you did removing the two side arms, before trying to release the plunger clips.
Hi you can still fix don’t give up. If I remember right the piece you are talking about ( part that presses against the capsule.) One of the clips on my broke off after I took it apart the 2nd time to make a better video. I have it all working despite the broken clip. You can do it.
Thank you for the reply. I’m thinking about clamping the plunger in and epoxying the clip in place, letting it cure, then releasing the clamp. If that doesn’t work I’ll just try the one clip approach!
This helped me out it works properly again only bad thing is it makes a lot of noise proberbly the pomp has moved with assembling everything back again
Hi, Great video. Thank you! Help please? I followed your instructions and on reassembly I was left with a small black plastic part. I should have taken photos, I know! I was hoping it was something to do with the exterior! Durrrr! The part is clearly visible on your video at 7:33. It is the rectangular black plastic moulding to the right of the spring, just below the capsule holder. Please could you let me know where it goes, if you can? Many thanks. Bests Al

I have just totally disassembled the unit and stripped it back to the samepart that you got to and ordered the O ring. One thing to note the O ring doesn't look damaged was yours just loose as I think mine is as well? I am just wondering in case it is something else, however everything else is totally clean and there is no sign of historic water drips inside the unit that I would have expected if the o rings had perished inside the 2 water pump connectors!! once again many thanks!!!

Thanks for this great video.Managed to change the brew chamber o-ring(32mm internal diameter,3mm thickness)but there is still a leak.Looks like it's from heater behind the brew chamber.Don't think I can do anything except replace..£70ish.or second hand.Any ideas please.I nearly did it!
Thanks for the instructions. Good to have commentry the whole way thru. I didn't have great success with mine. Somehow I broke the clicking on/off mechanism so mine is always on now. Still leaks even after putting a small pin thru all those minuscule holes to clear out the gunk. I didn't replace the o ring though. Is there a link to the o ring part number you can share?
i've done the same, it certainly did not want to be stripped down, however you didn't mention the perforating disk that puts holes in the capsules, mine was plugged solid, hence building up pressure and creating a leak, people should be doing the chemical clean regularly and this blockage would not occur, problem i now have is its extremely noisy for the first few seconds untill it appears to prime itself then go quiet, any advice most welcom ??
Hi that sounds like the water is draining out and having to prime every time. That leads me to think there's an issue with the rubber seal at the bottom of the water container connection. Maybe when you reassembled it's not seated right ? Keep us posted , you can do it 👍
My machine seems to be leaking underneath.. not into the tray. It could be the O ring, but do you think it could be another fix required, potentially from the hosing that feeds from the water Resevoir into the system? Any suggestions or guidance would be super helpful!! Thank you!!
There is small tab, upper left inside drip tray housing, press with long thin screwdriver, while pulling upwards slightly on the main innards, when I did so it all suddenly released very easily.
Hi, there is a piece that just fell while i was dissassembling it, so i dont know where it goes, and when you reassemble it, i cant see the moment that you put it again, so i'm lost. The piece is at 7:33 between the spring and the aluminum U (its not the one on the upper side, it's the one down to the right next to it)
@@YoucandoitwithJules got the spring replaced, the leaking of water(cold water) is from one of the white plastic pipe at your 05:42(there are two same looking ones, all fixed by the metallic retainers), I removed the retainer(metal pin), and replaced the tiny o-ring inside the pipe(rubber black o-ring) with a new one, sadly it still leaks after I put everything back and test run. This Inissia was with me since the year 2019, guess I had the value back already. and At least, I tried....but failed. Thank you !
My Nespresso machine was leaking into the tray. Even after de scaling the machine the problem didn’t fixed. Brew coming out of it. So I used paper clip into the nozzle of my machine. And then after that I hit the machine against the kitchen table. A lot of brew was coming out of it. Also led some water through it. Repeat it a few times. Apparently the nozzle was so clocked with coffee brew that it was blocked. So the water escaped through the back and into the tray.
Please disassemble the press plate that perforates the capsule and has tiny holes to let the coffee through. When too many of these tiny holes are clogged, so much counter pressure is created that the coffee seeks another way to get out: out of the rim of the capsule and in the drip reservoir.
Hello, thanks for this very useful video!!! I change the oring but unfortunately the leakage persist. I found that the leakage came from the space between the heater and the black plastic. Do you know how to remove the black plastic positioned after the heater? Maybe there is another oring that I can change.
Peter Hi, I went to local agricultural hardware store but most hardware store should sell o rings. I bought a 32mm internal diameter x 3mm oRing which fitted fine. Take your old one and find a suitable size. You can do it 👍
Sadly at 3:36, the front nozzle mysteriously disappears off the device, without any explanation on how to acheive this. It is really difficult to get off, so his comment that the main unit just pops out, is far from the truth.
@@YoucandoitwithJules thank you for this video, the problem was the machine was totally clogged up woth coffee, cleaned it qnd works perfectly again. Thank you for the video on how to dissasble it. 🤝🏻👍🏻
Hi how big was the "o" ring you replaced please? I sent off to a spares firm for the only one I could see they dealt with and it is TINY, did the one you use go around the out side of the metal plunger you had in your hand?
From other post it would appear it’s a 38mm OD and 3.1mm thickness. Just wondering if anyone has used a FKM flouro rubber rather than a nitrile buna N rubber o ring due to its better heat resistance?
@@YoucandoitwithJules 1) replied fast 2) using metric units (yay metric system) 3) give me incentive to do go and do it ( or maybe signing as your channel name :) ) 3/3 you are awesome. Thanks for the reply!
Did it then, however, though time-consuming, and it improving, I think the ring I bought is too thin, I did get a much thicker one but taking account of how long it took to get it all apart, I thought I'd try with the thinner one in case the thick one was no good and I'd need to do it all again, nonetheless, I will need to do it all again but I do now know how it goes. Coffee as it should be but still way too much water in drip tray. Not a waste of time because if one ever goes wrong again I'll know what to do. O-ring size I put in, that looks identical to the original measures: 32.00 mm x 3.00 mm, thick one I did not use yet is 28 mm x 4 mm, when I tried out the thick one I was half rolling it on, resulting in it rolling back off, so I didn't trust it even though I did get it on by stretching it gently and rolling right up onto the barrel and back down. One big error: I ruined 1 of the 2 horse jumping fence-like tabs either side of the brewing barrel, the barrel you show with the white pointed arrow part that only fits the one way, wondering now if this is fatal but, I don't think it is. So fragile these parts, I think a screw-in barrel would be far easier. Thanks a lot for your video
Hi. Thank you. I'm half way there. How did you fix the brass piece that came from inside the handle? I have the same part broken too, as well as the leak. I'm thinking that superglue might not hold as it probably gets a lot of pressure. That's how it broke in the first place; I forced the handle down.
PaulJT7 hi good ? I glued it first time and it broke within 2 weeks. Then I Drilled out the plastic stub stuck In the brass bearing center with a 2.5 mm hole. Then drilled a hole in the plastic arm and ran a m3 bolt thru the arm and screwed it into the brass bearing plastic Center. Glued it as well and its held up fine. I think if you had a leak it could be from the broken bearing as that would defiantly stop it sealing properly. Hope this helps. Keep us posted. You can do it 👍
@@YoucandoitwithJules Thank you. I had to call it quits. My model was just slightly different to yours (it's a Pixie model) with extra plastic connecting to the drip tray and restricting removal. Then once I'd used brute force to break it apart, I found the arms than you bolted was jammed on both side - and defied removal. So it was 4 hours of fun and frustration, but it's in the trash now! Next!
I spent 1.5 hours at this machine now, but at 4:50 i lost it.. I can not get 'the whole unit' out.. My machine looks te same but it's a Krups Pixie.. Maybe this one has some more hidden tabs? @@YoucandoitwithJules Eventually i cleaned the machine as far as i could, reaching in with isoprp. alcohol drenched q-tips en blew coffee build-up out with compressed air. This solved the issue! 😎
i am stuck at trying to get the black spout cover off. I have watched and rewatched the video, but it does not show the removal. I see two clips, on the now open side, but suspect there are 2 more on the other. Any advice on how to access?
@@YoucandoitwithJules Thanks!, but I did finally manage to get it all apart. Thanks for the helpful video! Unfortunately, I cannot report yet on if the surgery has fixed our problem. Fingers crossed!
Same problem here, it seems really stuk in that second cover piece and I can't take off the black ring unless I remove that part. Afraid I might break it.
@@sebastiaanaltingvangeusau1486 If there is an easier way I didn't find it. I got mine off by first releasing the two clips you can see on the open side. Then separate the "inner workings" as much as you can from the other side and try pulling off the black spout cover by pushing it towards the side that is still clipped in. You may have to reach in and pry the other two clips open as well. Swearing may help. When you get to the point of removing the insides, there is another catch to release. Mine did not want to pull out with just hand strength (mine or my husbands), but came out very smoothly once it was gripped with pliers on the vertical piece below his thumb at the 12:51 mark. (yes this is during his reassembly, but was the first spot I saw that I could easily reference a good description of where to grab. This video seems to fill in some of the gaps of the one above: trshow.info/watch/3hCBWG5VTKI/nespresso-krups-pixie-replace-pressure-valve-disassembly-leaking.html. The good news is I did get everything cleaned. The bad news is that it is still leaking....and after breaking 3 of the outside clips (our machine is probably 6-10 years old), I am not sure it is worth the frustration to try and take apart again. Another one will be gong on our Christmas list.

I have removed the casing but the main unit will not come away from the other side . Cannot see away to free it , doesn't pull away as you describe !!!!
Paul Evans Hi yes it May be a white clip ? I think you will need to apply some force on the handle stub sticking out the hole and it will overcome the clip? Or else on the whole until pulling towards you. It can be frustrating at this point so try and not too mad with it. You can do it 👍
@@YoucandoitwithJules Hi. I'm trying it now and tan into the same problem. It feels as if there's something holding the whole unit down from the back (from the side we didn't take apart). I tried to apply force but it won't come out.
Not that useful as video doesn’t tell you all the things you need to dismantle. Where did black spout part disappear to after taking side panel off? Clips on both sides but one side is covered with other panel....
I wonder how many people got three hours in, then surrounded by bits of disassembled Nespresso machine realised they needed a new specialist O ring only available online 😂
With all the details you showed of everything else, you really missed out on filming the taking out and replacing the O ring to emphasize what you were replacing!!!! I had to back up the video 3 times.
Thanks, but this will cost a lot of time and skills. First try to keep the machine upside down and keep the nozzle under a running faucet. Only the nozzle, not the whole machine. Until the the stream is clear. Problem solved. As simple as that.
Good video, but still too much hassle for me, as I neither enjoy DIY, nor am I a good at it. So basically I will throw mine out. Bough and old cube on ebay, those used to last longer. Mind held 8 years, my pixie 2,5 years. One would assume they make enough money through the coffee, but they want you to buy a new one every 2 years.
supermegadidi Yes the cubes are the best and bullet proof. I gave mine to a friend when I bought the smaller one. Was a mistake as that is still going strong with no hassles. You can do it ?
Agree on the complexity and it’s deliberate to assist in the throw away buy again culture. On the quality of the coffee its all about the quality of the coffee beans. Proper Nespresso coffee capsules produce some glorious smelling coffee. You can do it 👍
Sorry. Much as I appreciate the video, there is not a chance in hell that I am going to go to that much trouble to fix something that is quite obviously a fault in design. I am going to throw my Magimix away and buy something more reliable. Good luck to everyone else with this problem.

09:38 Thank you on that reminder!. And sadly i just lost the tiny spring😂. Can't remember the size. Bought some online.hope they works😂
Good luck, keep us posted. You can do it 👍
@@YoucandoitwithJules got the spring replaced, the leaking of water(cold water) is from one of the white plastic pipe at your 05:42(there are two same looking ones, all fixed by the metallic retainers), I removed the retainer(metal pin), and replaced the tiny o-ring inside the pipe(rubber black o-ring) with a new one, sadly it still leaks after I put everything back and test run.
So I have taken it all apart (as per the video). Does anyone know the size (best size to fix the issue) of the replacement o-ring?
It's in one of my replies in one of the comments ä. You can do it 👍
Hello! What type of screwdriver is that?
Please disassemble the press plate that perforates the capsule and has tiny holes to let the coffee through. When too many of these tiny holes are clogged, so much counter pressure is created that the coffee seeks another way to get out: out of the rim of the capsule and in the drip reservoir.
Hello, thanks for this very useful video!!! I change the oring but unfortunately the leakage persist. I found that the leakage came from the space between the heater and the black plastic. Do you know how to remove the black plastic positioned after the heater? Maybe there is another oring that I can change.
Hi, Havent had to do that yet. Good luck
. You can do it.
to get the O-ring is difficult in The Netherlands . is there aan adress on internet?
Peter Hi, I went to local agricultural hardware store but most hardware store should sell o rings. I bought a 32mm internal diameter x 3mm oRing which fitted fine. Take your old one and find a suitable size. You can do it 👍
@@YoucandoitwithJules bit of info I was after, thanks- may be worth adding to your description? Thanks for the informative video!
You Can Do It ! Hi, I have similar machine and O-ring is 33x2,5, Not easy to find. I think your was the same size, right?
Sadly at 3:36, the front nozzle mysteriously disappears off the device, without any explanation on how to acheive this. It is really difficult to get off, so his comment that the main unit just pops out, is far from the truth.
What size is the O ring? I didn't hear it mentioned in the commentary. Great video BTW.
Hi the size is in the comments section. You can also just take the old one to the hardware store and find one that suits. You can do it 👍
Hi! Mine is leaking to! What’s the size of the O-ring? I can’t seem to find it in the comments?
Hi it's there in one-off my replies. Don't have the exact size to hand.
32(ID)x3mm
From where I can buy this rubber sealing? Please share a link if anyone knows 🖐🏻
-Any hardware store should stock O rings. You can do it :)
Thank you for that, have the same problem. Will try this and let you know 👍🏻
Thanks. You can do it 👍
@@YoucandoitwithJules thank you for this video, the problem was the machine was totally clogged up woth coffee, cleaned it qnd works perfectly again.
Thank you for the video on how to dissasble it. 🤝🏻👍🏻
@@ZWGamemasterGame Great you fixed it 👍
Not an easy job, well done. Now to try mine!
Good luck. You can do it 👍
Hi how big was the "o" ring you replaced please? I sent off to a spares firm for the only one I could see they dealt with and it is TINY, did the one you use go around the out side of the metal plunger you had in your hand?
Ive answered. this before and can't remember the exact size but you'll find it in previous posts. You can do it.
From other post it would appear it’s a 38mm OD and 3.1mm thickness. Just wondering if anyone has used a FKM flouro rubber rather than a nitrile buna N rubber o ring due to its better heat resistance?
Great video. Very informative. Which oring did you end up using it?
I put in a 32mm internal diameter x 3mm. You can do it 👍
@@YoucandoitwithJules 1) replied fast
2) using metric units (yay metric system)
3) give me incentive to do go and do it ( or maybe signing as your channel name :) )
3/3 you are awesome. Thanks for the reply!
Denis Ramos Hi thanksgiving for the feed back. Keep us posted on how it goes. You can do it 👍
Did it then, however, though time-consuming, and it improving, I think the ring I bought is too thin, I did get a much thicker one but taking account of how long it took to get it all apart, I thought I'd try with the thinner one in case the thick one was no good and I'd need to do it all again, nonetheless, I will need to do it all again but I do now know how it goes.
Thanks for the feedback. You can do it
Hi.
Next!
yes but I have broken the little white piéce near the two springs.is it possible to buy it?
Hi not sure about replacement parts, try emailing Nespresso HQ. You can do it
Hello,
Could you tell me where could I buy the o-ring ? f you can please send me a link to a website.
Many thanks
Hi, I just went to our farm shop. Most diy stores sell o rings. The exact size. Is in the comments. You can do it 👍
What temperature did you set to wash the parts in your dishwasher? I’m worried the plastic could get damaged if the cycle is too hot.
Hi I just wash at normal eco temp setting. You can do it 👍
Hi what size o ring is it I'm about to attempt this with mine
Never mind just found the size from an earlier comment
Great, Most hardware stores stock them. You can do it 👍
I can’t take that cover off where the water feed is 😥 and broke the side panel piece while pulling it off with brute force.
I spent 1.5 hours at this machine now, but at 4:50 i lost it.. I can not get 'the whole unit' out.. My machine looks te same but it's a Krups Pixie.. Maybe this one has some more hidden tabs? I already pulled so hard i cut my hand open.
Unbelievable they made this machine so unservicable!
I putting it back together, and it will probable still leak :-(
Thanks for you effort anyway!
Good try. You can do it 👍
@@YoucandoitwithJules Eventually i cleaned the machine as far as i could, reaching in with isoprp. alcohol drenched q-tips en blew coffee build-up out with compressed air.

i am stuck at trying to get the black spout cover off. I have watched and rewatched the video, but it does not show the removal. I see two clips, on the now open side, but suspect there are 2 more on the other. Any advice on how to access?
Hi let me check my video. You can do it. 👍
@@YoucandoitwithJules Thanks!, but I did finally manage to get it all apart. Thanks for the helpful video! Unfortunately, I cannot report yet on if the surgery has fixed our problem. Fingers crossed!
H. S. Well done, persistence got the snail to the ark ☝️ Hope it solves your problem. Keep us posted. You can do it 👍
Same problem here, it seems really stuk in that second cover piece and I can't take off the black ring unless I remove that part.
Wow you make it look like its easy !!!!! Whats the size of the star srewdriver the first one u used
Hi T15 for the side panels and T20 for the handle. you can do it 👍

What was the fault? We have one and it leaks water out of the bottom - is this likely to be the same problem?

I have removed the casing but the main unit will not come away from the other side .
Cannot see away to free it , doesn't pull away as you describe !!!!
Paul Evans hi have you the handle closed fully so the stub can come thru the hole?
@@YoucandoitwithJules It is in the correct position, the unit seems to be attached by a clip I cannot see or access.
I tried to apply force but it won't come out.

where to find detached pieces?
patrick maroccou Hi do you mean the O Ring ?
Not that useful as video doesn’t tell you all the things you need to dismantle. Where did black spout part disappear to after taking side panel off? Clips on both sides but one side is covered with other panel....
I wonder how many people got three hours in, then surrounded by bits of disassembled Nespresso machine realised they needed a new specialist O ring only available online 😂
CapnChapster Hi you can get an oring from most diy places. 👍
Already ordered! Thanks for posting BTW. V informative.
Just tried this, absolute disaster. Really not worth the effort. Off to amazon to but an new one !

I had to back up the video 3 times.
Video was made live as I working on something and this was done quickly. You can do it 👍
Thanks, but this will cost a lot of time and skills.

You can do it ?
soo complicated… I’ll return mine to the seller who tried to rip me off on FB Marketplace
Yep I’d do that if you’ve just bought it. You can do it 👍
I so can’t do this!
Stick with it you can do it 👍
Unnecessarily complex for a small machine making mediocre coffee, no?
Agree on the complexity and it’s deliberate to assist in the throw away buy again culture. On the quality of the coffee its all about the quality of the coffee beans. Proper Nespresso coffee capsules produce some glorious smelling coffee. You can do it 👍
Nightmare
_You can do it.
Sorry. Much as I appreciate the video, there is not a chance in hell that I am going to go to that much trouble to fix something that is quite obviously a fault in design. I am going to throw my Magimix away and buy something more reliable. Good luck to everyone else with this problem.
