This sounds a lot like a rare psychological disorder called Capgras syndrome, where an individual suddenly believes one or many (or sometimes all) beings in the individual's life have been replaced with imposters. This can extend to believing pets have been replaced as well. It's rare but it does happen.
Andrew Del Pilar Kinda. It's kinda like seeing people you saw before and not recognizing them at all. You notice things you don't notice before. Things that were always there.
Capgras syndrome, also known as Capgras delusion, is the irrational belief that a familiar person or place has been replaced with an exact duplicate So sad 🥺
This is actually one of the more interesting creepypastas I've heard. To me, it sounds like an allegory for the emotions one feels when they come of age. You realize that everyone around you is just putting on a facade; that their core motives and beliefs are suppressed so they can more easily integrate into society. The narrator's association with the "jocks" is a classical representation of the "us and them" attitude that arises when social cliques begin to form. Not only does the narrator feel like he is surrounded by fakers, but he realizes that he is a faker himself. He even admits that the only reason he joined the football team was so he wouldn't get picked on by the jocks. It is this sudden revelation when he suffers his injury that he fully realizes this, and it all seems like it's too much to bear. In a way, he feels like the world is unfair because we lose our sense of individuality and conform to societal norms, no matter how unsavory they might seem from an objective point of view. He feels alone. This is kind of reminiscent of the Columbine Shooting; the motives of the killers were initiated by the injustices they witnessed as children and high-schoolers. (Why the hell did I type all of that?)
+Louie Paul He has a neurological condition that inhibits his brain's ability to get an emotional reaction from looking at someone close to him. I forget what it's called, but it was used as a plot point in Criminal Minds.
Robert Walmsley again, there's an actual neurological condition which causes something akin to this. I forget its name though. It was mentioned in either Criminal Minds or Flashpoint though. EDIT: Found it. Capgras Delusion. BAM. Criminal Minds Season 7, Episode 3: Dorado Falls. Real neurological disorder. And guess what it's often caused by? Brain damage due to head trauma. POUND IT!!
ThanatosxMaelthra You can still recognize people with dissociation disorders. Generally during dissociative episodes it feels like the world is closing in around you until there's just you. You forget where you are, where you're going, why you're there, then who you are, etc.
basically. It sounds likes its based on a rare mental disorder called Capgras syndrome- basically the sufferer is under the delusion that those around them are imposters. Its usually a symptom of other disorders like Alzheimer's or Schizophrenia but in rare cases, it can be caused by a brain injury.
@@Jourell1 man that's horrible. I've been suffering with this for awhile but I didn't know it was a disorder. I hope I dont have alhzeimers, I guess my memory is really really shit
@@nucleum5026 My understanding with the Alzheimer's is its when they are deeply into it and cannot recognize their family members . The only way to know is to be tested by a reputable psychiatrist. Even if you don't have this disorder, they can give you suggestions and help you deal with anything you do have.
@@Jourell1 yeah I only struggle sometimes but I usually can realize that I'm just being paranoid. I wouldn't want to burden my family with all that stuff, I think I just need more sleep Thank u
This is one of my favorite stories, as far as creepypastas go, and definitely the best written and best preformed one I've heard, and I've heard tons. Also, one of the most believable pastas ever. I'm very satisfied and entertained now, after hearing so many immature, childlike "monster" stories that are so far fetched that it does very little to frighten me. Good job on this story.
5 years later but if you still listen to creepypastas you need to listen to this authors other stories. they are just as good if not better. The best ones are 'chicken bones', digital immortality and the other internet.
This is actually called "Capgras delusion" it can be caused by brain injury and makes you believe people you know have been replaced by identical imposters.
this sounds like a serial killer. he had a head injury, making him feel, he is doin the right, and thinking that the people he is killing, are intruders, but its just his broken mind.
And all I can think is that this is the story of someone with a mental disease that makes you think that everyone you know are imposters Good narrating and voice
I read in a comment that thinking everyone around you has been replaced is a possible side effect of a severe spinal or head injury, so this story just went from pretty cool to really awesome :D
This is actually a real life mental health issue called cap gap, its where the person with this desease is completly convinced that all their friends and family have been replaced by identical copies. It even sometimes effects there veiw on household objects, making them think that someone stole everything and replaced it with a copy
I love this story because of both the great read and the sad truth. This is a real thing that happens to people. Typically to soldiers that come back with ptsd, but it can also happen to just about everyone. I think it is very interesting and sad.
I really love these stories where the narrator is kind of like, "the bad guy" Or like in the end they go insane (he should make a playlist of those stories 😅)
I remember on an episode of the Caustic Soda podcast where they talked about a mental disorder where someone thinks their friends or family are replaced with imposters.
Fun fact this is an actual delusion people have called Capgras delusion. Where people feel as if those around them are being replaced by identical imposters.
I like the concept and according to many, the details are accurate to the real mental disorder the story is based on! But I can't help but feel like the author could have delved deeper into the concepts of labels and facades. Its touched on it briefly but it feels like something is missing, something to tie together how the persona the narrator unwillingly and unknowingly projects (as well as those of his peers) has broken him down. I really appreciate that creepy pastas don't have to be perfectly polished, it leaves a lot of room to build off ideas !
This reminds me on the Law and Order SVU episode where that mom didn't recognize her daughter after she was hit by a bus so she chained her up in a closet and didn't feed her while she and her new husband played video games.
This would be so much more convincing if he went to a hospital first and they found nothing wrong OR the actors were threatening in the SLIGHTEST and not just replacements. It seems completely irrational to go on a murder spree because someone is just imitating a loved one.
It sounds like a creepypasrta commenting on the fact that some people with schizophrenia cant distinguish between reality and hallucinations....i really liked it
With modern technology, would it be possible to make a doorbell (only if it's connected to, and controlled by a central mainframe in the house) ring 5 seconds after the story ends? How awesome would that be for a creepy moment :3
I feel like this story would be ten times scarier if there wasn't some 'jester' thing. like, yea ok he's either crazy or someones actually doing the do, but the jester character feels like the writer (as in the protaganist not the actual author of the creepy pasta) is just trying to justify his actions, if he was really that insane (which he is) he wouldn't feel the need to justify his actions so hard.
Can anyone tell me what music is played in the background of this video? I looked at the channels that @CreepsMcPasta mentioned in the description but there are so many videos and I can't seem to find this particular music. Thanks
Clever ending.. Very clever!! I'm one of the actors and I don't even know aha! So when he says I'll be over in a bit I'll open the door and he'll think I'm an actor. In fact all of them didn't know because I guess the Jester has fooled us and him!! Clever story. Love this one, paranoia fuel right there XD
This is terrifying as fuck because this isn't that far out of the realm of the possible; it does happen and that's what makes it terrifying. Props to CreepsMcPasta for doing an awesome reading of this :)

Is it like schizophrenia?
Andrew Del Pilar Kinda. It's kinda like seeing people you saw before and not recognizing them at all. You notice things you don't notice before. Things that were always there.
Yikes! That sucks.
This sounds like it was based on an actual mental illness. Very interesting.
That's because it is. It's caused by brain or spinal injury.
I didn't know spinal injury could cause this. I wasn't sure if it was based on the mental illness or if it was just a coincidence.
