Hi friends! In this video I want to tell you about one more retouching plugin based on neural network from Retouch4me series. The plugin is called Retouch4me Clean Backdrop. It cleans studio backgrounds in photographs. Thanks to Oleg Sharonov, Mikhail Shaleev and Karl Lee for the provided photos.
I have uploaded some studio photos to Photoshop. Let's take a look at the background in the first photo. In addition to footprints and seams of the background itself, there are also visible dust on the camera’s sensor and shadows from some kind of studio equipment. Let's see how the plugin handles this photo. I’m opening Filters menu and selecting Retouch4me Clean Backdrop here. The plugin works quickly, so I will be launching it with High Resolution checkbox to find and fix all small defects in the photo. Ok, done! I click Apply. Let's see before and after images in Photoshop! Before and after. Let's see the changes on the floor. Here is before, here is one after. Please note that the plugin doesn’t fill everything with one color, it removes only dirt! Shadows of the objects remain. This emphasizes the naturalness of the picture and the plugin does it just fine!
Let's move on to something more difficult. The background looks terrible here. I’m going to create a copy of the layer for easy comparison and launch Retouch4me Clean Backdrop plugin in high resolution mode. I’m going to Photoshop to see the result! Here is a photo before and here is one after! Some completely dark areas on the background were hypercompensated, that is, they became a little lighter than the background itself. I think in half a minute this can be dealt with the help of Healing brush. But just think how much time you would spend on such retouching! Honestly, could you retouch the background, taking into account the fact that there is even nowhere to copy the background areas to, when working with Healing brush! Everything here is covered in footprints and dirt! But the plugin has fixed it!
One more shot, I'm launching Retouch4me Clean Backdrop. Let’s see the result! There are small spots left in the photo, which initially stood out too much. This is dirt and a part of the background that has been torn. But look at how the plugin removed all the dirt from this photo! I emphasize once again that the plugin doesn’t fill the background with one color; it just retouches those parts of the background where you have dirt! Objects' shadows remain intact, as if they were shot against a perfectly clear background! This makes the photos look as natural as possible. If you are shooting on a white background, on a cyclorama, this plug-in will be just a great find for you! You can take your work to a whole new level!
Here is the last example. There was also a white background here, but it was highlighted with multi-colored light sources. In addition, there are some folds of the background. Let's see how Retouch4me Clean Backdrop plugin handles this task. I click Apply and this is the result! Here is a photo before and here is one after. There were footprints in the background, but the plugin removed them. There were folds of the background, but the color transitions after applying the plugin have remained even! Once again, the plugin doesn’t fill the background with one color, it retouches it! Retouch4me plugins don’t replace textures with artificial ones! If you are shooting in the studio, shooting for catalogs, just imagine how much time Retouch4me Clean Backdrop plugin can save you! Seriously, can you manually retouch the background so that after retouching it looks like this? So that even the shadows from the objects of the shooting do not change, as if you were shooting against a perfectly clean background? It looks like magic! Yes, there are some small areas left, but you can easily remove them in half a minute.
In terms of creation and development Retouch4me Clean Backdrop plugin is by far the most time consuming. It was incredibly difficult to prepare the source images for training the neural network. We tried very hard to create this plugin, but the result is worth all the effort! I think you can see it perfectly by yourself!

Yes, internal math is 32 bit floating point.
@@agorka Excellent! Big fan of your work here since picking up a 3DLC license two years ago. Not sure if it's possible/worth the effort, but a tool to extend a seamless background would also be pretty useful.

@@colebettelyoun4330 masking a subject and removing the bg completely is not what I mean by "background extension"
You have to mask your subjects before doing it. It will remove things on people, such as buttons, if you don't. Trust me. It does a decent job on the background, but it doesn't always know what the background actually is.
I agree this is both nice and usefull, just not $149 worth at all. It's incorrectly priced. At $24.99 is a good deal, not great.
The background clean up doesn’t work as advertised!
It would have been nice to be able to see retouched images at 100% zoom in, instead of 33% or 50%… Not very reliable IMHO
