I think they doubled up on the teflon tape due to the incompatibility of brass and aluminum. Extra teflon tape may help interrupt the process of galvanic corrosion. Just a guess.

Never thought about that, I always thought that brass was always the metal that was compatible with all others. Of course I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time lol
