I have been regularly listening to this concert ever since it was uploaded in TH-cam. One of the rare and excellent RTPs. Must be preserved for future generation. Pranams to all artists. Gid bless them
This is the most scholarly erudite concert I have ever heard in my life. The entire 2 hours 30 minutes is on Kamavardhini Raga Thana Pallavi in the praise of Lord Murugha and he has run away from Palani to just listen to these Gandharvas. After a very detailed exposition of Raga and Thana in the Pallavi, Vid Balamurali presents pallavi in 108 ragas complemented by Vid Akkarai Shubhalakshmi on the violin. has This is not just a concert. It is a daiva sabha in the presence of tumburu narada saraswathi ganapathi shiva panchayatana, vishnu panchayatana. None should miss this concert, from novice to learners to seasoned to experts to the musicians themselves, am submitting with humility. God bless them immensely for giving such an musical talent which I haven't heard till date.
.. it took me perhaps 20 years of listeing to Indian classical music in general to learn how to listen to and appreciate the Carnatic tradition ... compared to Hindustani classical music, a western person´s ears seem to be completely sealed for this ... thankfully, I somehow managed to unseal my ears and it has brought me a lot of joy & pleasure ..... and I thing I can sense something immensely ancient which I perhaps might, ot might not hear in one of my previous lives ... B-)
When I suggest listening to such great recitals, i get a feed back that it is not easy to understand, appreciate, admire, since one should know the tala, raga, laya, and so on. I said, constantly listening also will educate the listener about these aspects over time. Also the music has soothing effect on the whole body, and as Dr BM Hegde says mind is not in the brain, mind is in the entire body, hence listening to this music is crucial for overall health.
This is the third concert I am watching of Vid Balamuralikrishna. Saraswathi lives in him, no not just him, in all the accompanists. Saraswathi is singing, saraswathi is on the violin, saraswathi is on the mrudangam, and saraswathi is on the ghatam. I do not know why go behind expensive allopathy treatment for calming mind and treating heart ailment due to stress, just listen to such concerts, even while doing any other work, these great artistes are contributing richly to health of thousands of listeners.
No amount of encomiums would be sufficient to describe the sheer brilliance of Balamurali Krishna Sir. Awestruck by his mastery over all the aspects of Carnatic music. Conceptualising such a thought is extraordinary and executing the same to perfection is beyond brilliance. PraNams to him as well as to the brilliant accompanying artists who were up to the challenge and ably contributed to the magnum opus.
I could see traces of Madurai Somu in this youngster, what a talent,we are really blessed to have so many young talents blossoming into future of carnatic music. Not heard such power packed pantuvarali in the recent past. Most of the singers do it at a reasonable range and leave, Balamurali touched the high and the low notes beautifully
Several years ago, KiranVali, Ravikiran's sister also gave a Pallavi concert with 108 ragas. That also was unbelievable. This recital is amazing. Identified many ragas but still 108 becomes very difficult to place all. Thanks for a wonderful concert. Starts with Vanaspathi Thyagaraja Krithi.
Namaskaram to all the Vidhwans & Vidhushi. Out of world concert. Absolutely wonderful & I am unfit to make any more comments as all of them are top class artists as Sri.Sashkiran mentioned it is not easy to sing 108 ragas & Sri.Balamuralikrishna was at ease to change over the ragas , hearty congratulations & I would like to thank Sri.Sashikiran and all the artists for such a treat. May the Goddess Saraswati shower Her blessings and bless them all. Top class concert. Ofcourse everyday we are given great feast by each and every artists. Thank you 😊 and my humble Namaskaram.

Came across this gem of a concert , no words to express my joy , 4 talented amazing genius in one stage and they creat Magic.Wish could be there live to see this concert , the people who could see this concer are blessed. I don't know much about raagas but this isn't Amazing. Thankyou.
simply superb. though I dont know the basics of carnatic music, it is fantastic. raagaalapana. I used to hear the raagam , taanam , pallavi broadcast on Tuesday by AIR, Vijayawada since my childhood. this is peculiar.
Master piece of KBMK. Akkarai Subbulakshmi 👏👏👍👍🙏🙏. Patri and Karthik extreme. Our ears and mind enlightened. Goddess Saraswati lives in these vidwans 🙏🙏 Please upload the list of ragas for our knowledge.
Excellent program.Kbmk is an extraordinarily talented vidhwan .And the violin, mrudhangam and gatam vidhwans are great.I enjoyed the concert .Thanks and pranams to all of them.
What a challenging concert 👏👌 mind boggling ,multi tasking and melodious concert of a Pallavi with a complex talam👍🏻 we are looking forward to your concert in Sydney next week..warm welcome to Balamurali Krishna..to Sydney 🙏 I took the liberty of sharing this clip on Sydney Music Circle site..🙏 I liked the idea of making it as a competition to identify the maximum number of ragas👍🏻 Great idea..pallavi Darbar is setting a real bench mark for the best performance by the talented artists who just do not stop by following the normal kachcheri padhdhathi ...instead they go an extra mile to enthral the audience. Wishing you all the best🙏💐
Since the contest got over a long time ago, can someone post a full list of the ragas here? I could identify a few of them, but I don't have any Carnatic music knowledge, just an avid listener. 😁
I hope carnatic musicians take a step back and experiment formats that elaborate a few ragas that are sung in slow and unhurried manner, bringing out all their emotions. The current trend is just not doing justice to the depth of our music. Forget the talam for some time. It being complex shouldn't be of first order importance. Further, singing so many different ragas one after the other for a minute or two is just pointless. I understand its called "innovation", but I am personally not a fan. The musicians themselves are all admired and no questioning their talent. Please explore the non-talam facets (lyrics for ex) and approach the ragas as slowly as possible. Each note of a raga has an emotion. The notes coming together conveys an emotion. Sorry to say, this does not convey any of those emotions that they are all capable of. Neelambari or Ahiri swaram in 1 min, Nattakurinji or Ranjani in a 2 min tanam. I dont know what more to say. There are precedents set by yesteryear vidwans like Flute Mali, TN Rajarathnam Pillai, GNB, etc. Don't ignore that legacy.
While I agree with you, RTP in a regular concert does meet the standard& format you are expecting. So, why not explore something new like this? This would enable more additions and changes.
@Raghul I agree with you but not in all aspects. I appreciate your views that Carnatic music is strongly based on the concept of melody (ragam) where alaps and renditions in vilamba kalam (slow tempo) has predominant scope. However, the scope of thalam cannot be forgotten at the same time. According to me, the blend of melody and rythm (ragam and thalam) together brings the whole aesthetics. For example, not all sangathis can be appropriate in a particular korvai or kanakku, even though the arithmetics is correct. I'm eager to listen to your further views on the same.
Kindly appreciate there are also non local language, non sanskrit listeners. Please do not be harsh in conveying your feelings. Please be benign. Help ever, hurt never.

Yes i have listened to somu who used to sing for 4 to 5 hours. Spell bound
Yes it's an experimental record that no Carnatic musician have done
Only he attempted it
Omg !!!!!!
What a knowledge !!!! 💜💜💜💜
KBMK ... soulful rendering... even those who don't know the intrigues of carnatic music cannot miss the mastery of this person ....
Sashikiran’s idea ofPallavDarbar has produced a genius! What energy, knowledge and execution in short notice! Eligible for guinness book of records
I totally agree withRukmini Srinivasan. I was fortunate to listen to it live. It was an incredible and awesome experience.
He is a born genius
Yes,Sasikiran is also a genius to give birth to a brilliant musical genius.
