Dude sold his soul for magic soup because he was scared and envious his best friend was gonna be stronger than him, And even with that cheat, Master Monk Guan got better and earned his immortality. Chase also spent most of Season 2 trying to corrupt Omi so he could hijack Omi's chi and use it to send the world to chaos. Dude took shortcuts to power because his own skills weren't good enough. Even now, he had to try and use his mirror wall trick against Guan and it still ended with him getting beaten.

He called his dragon form his “true form.” But we know that’s not true. He was human first. His dragon form was the alteration the soup gave him.
