- The East Lancashire Railway hosted a Class 14 Diesel Gala celebrating 50 years since the Class 14 diesels were first introduced into service. This video shows a 9-loco train on Saturday Evening, filmed at Burrs. Then five of the locos got dropped off at Ramsbottom and we see the remaining four at Ewood Bridge and Rawtenstall. Later, the other five locos came onto the train at Rawtenstall and the train was then seen near Townsend Fold. It was originally intended that 10 locos would be in service but D9523 had failed on Friday.
That is a combine continuous 211500 Ibf of Tractive effort right there
That opening scene is just incredible Joseph, definitely not something you'll see everyday! Great filming throughout, thanks for sharing it for those of us who couldn't be there
Hi Austin. It was fantastic to watch and glad we got the chance to film it. I don't think we've ever had a video get so many views so quick. Regards Joseph

Top class footage Joseph and what a sound from the Burrs shots.
Cheers Phil.
***** Hi Phil. This was definitely different. Glad we got chance to film it. There were a lot of photographers at Burrs on the lineside banking and I think the locos were playing to the crowd. Regards Joseph
By far one of my favourite shunters. Nearly 60years old now!
Brilliant just spectacular to see a cavalcade of 9 class 14's nice video.
Hi Thomas, thanks for watching and leaving a great comment. It was incredible to watch. Glad we got the chance to film it. If the maroon one hadn't failed on the Friday, it would have been a 10 loco train. Regards Joseph

Must have been some interesting logistics to get all 9 of 'em in same place... Worth it, though!
Hi. Thanks for watching my 9 class 14's on the ELR. It should have been 10 but one of them failed. Doubt we'll see anything like that again. Really pleased that I got chance to film it. regards Joseph
Thanks for sharing :) I had to keep rewatching the first two scenes. Amazing xD
Thanks for watching and leaving a great comment. It was a great spectacle. If I remember right, there should have been 10 locos but one failed. regards Joseph

The Teddy bears are DEFINITELY my favourite shunters!!!!!
Now we know class 14's are geese

Hey this is brilliant, I'd like to link to this video over on Model Railways Unlimited and lift a little of the audio by way of introduction, would that be ok?
Hi MikesMovies. Yes to your requests and thanks for asking. Glad you enjoyed it. regards Joseph.
Someone seems to have had fun in train simulator...

Wow
may i use some footage
RailPony Thanks for watching and thanks for asking and Yes you can use some footage. Regards Joseph
The British know how to celebrate an anniversary of engines, I wish America did the same.
East Lancs rule!👌
Look mummy theres a Teddy Bear coming....oh and another.....😧......aaand ANOTHER.......OH MUMMY LOOK .......ITS A PICNIC THERES MORE!
Whoever would have thought in 1968 that anyone would even remember they ever existed? Shows that just because BR didn't know what to do with them, that doesn't necessarily mean that a loco is no good.
Hi Andrei. It was a great gala. These class 14's were very popular over the weekend. Just a shame that the maroon one failed on the Friday just as we got there so we didn't see that one. Regards Joseph
On their way to a teddy bears picnic! Regards, Pete
Hi Pete. Thanks for watching. The idea of so many class 14's at one gala was superb. Regards Joseph
Thanks for the reply, I wish I'd been there. Swindon' finest diesels (apart from all the others!) I used to go round the works with my mates on open days. Now it's an outlet village, but there is memorabilia there, plus the Steam Museum. Regards Pete.
