Your videos got me to see what bird photography can be and now I just became serious about it! Thanks, man.

The right-angle viewfinder for the D500-D850, etc are great but the drawback is that it's not a quick on and off. If you put it on, commit to being down and only shooting birds on the ground or in the water. As soon as they take flight you're done.

A shorebird is any bird that is included within the order Charadriiformes, whilst shorebirds belonging to the families Turnicidae (Buttonquails), Pedionomidae (Plains Wanderer), Thinocoridae (Seedsnipes), Rostratulidae (Painted Snipes), Jacanidae (Jacanas), Scolopacidae (Snipes, Curlews, Sandpipers, Godwits, Woodcocks, Dowitchers, Phalaropes, Shanks, Tattlers, Turnstones, Knots, Stints, Dunlin, Ruff, and Surfbird), Charadriidae (Plovers and Lapwings), Pluvianellidae (Magellanic Plover), Recurvirostridae (Avocets and Stilts), Ibidorhynchidae (Ibisbill), Haematopodidae (Oystercatchers), Burhinidae (Stone Curlews), Chionidae (Sheathbills), Glareolidae (Pratincoles and Coursers), Dromadidae (Crab Plover), and Pluvianidae (Crocodile Bird) are specifically called waders, additionally, shorebirds that are called waders are a paraphyletic group because the families Burhinidae, Chionidae, Glareolidae, Dromadidae, and Pluvianidae are more closely related to the shorebird families Laridae (Gulls), Stercorariidae (Skuas), Sternidae (Terns, Noddies, and Skimmers), and Fraterculidae (Puffins, Razorbill, Auks, Auklets, Guillemots, Murres, and Murrelets) than they are to other shorebird families with species called waders.

I been shooting for about 4 years and tried a lot of things that did not give the effect or image I wanted. After a few of your video I began to get what I wanted in my images. I even received a reward for some of my work on viewbug. I still am not able to get the birds and water action to look like I want it. You had a few action picture in the video today just how did you freeze the action to make the water stand out?

shutter speeds over 1/1000 can closer to 1/2000 but see my video on shutter speeds. You need lots of light to get those speeds, and sometimes that light is not as flattering for portraits. I call it action light

This was a great lecture, thank you! With the big 600mm II, I love to get really low as you do. Do you find that you sometimes are too low? I know sometimes the birds feet are a little out of focus for me and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Thanks! Also, do you use waders often to get around back or the sun sometimes? I’m asking because I found a nice spot near me but the morning sun would require me to get around the birds in the marsh area so the sun is over my shoulder. I hate the idea of walking a mile to the beach in waders but if I must LOL I think it will help. Thanks again.

I use waders yes sometimes. Not on sandy beaches but marshes and have had plenty of adventures so be careful. You can get mudstuck and it can be dangerous. Test areas slowly and carefully.

@@WildlifeInspired thanks Scott. It’s just so much easier to get out in the mornings, plus there is less beach traffic where I am at. I want to try to get these skimmers skimming but I really need to get behind them, so I’ll give it a try!!

Which lens you use for shore birds?
