      @@livlutwyche837 I am beyond thrilled with my new eyes! I was pretty nervous going into surgery, but once they started the sedation, it was all good!
      Right after surgery I could see well enough to get around on my own, but it was a little cloudy. By the next morning, clouds were gone and I was at 20/25 vision.
      The following week I was at 20/20. I’ve never had perfect vision, even with my glasses or contacts!

    So glad I found these videos of your experience. I've worn glasses since I was 5 and I was gutted today when I was told I wasn't eligible for LASEK. They have told me lens implant surgery is an option and I've been feeling nervous, but this is reassuring!

    • @Inside_Archaeology

      It's a lifechanger! My LASIK journey was very disappointing, I showed up twice for surgery THAT morning, only to be told my eyes were too dry and the second time they said they were too dry so I couldn't get LASIK at all; I had an actual temper tantrum when I got home. ICL is expensive but no regrets whatsoever, I would rather spend this money to benefit my quality of life than on more material stuff. It's normal to be nervous but honestly it's over before you know it and it's so worth it! Thanks for watching!

    my brother went through a lasic surgery 6 years. His eye was also pretty dry but a month of preparation via drops etc. it happened. He's doing fine but when he is a little unable to focus eye to eye with any other person for around 3 years and then now its about 99% fine.(you know that 1% knot is left when you join 2 threads). I hope that you also become fine after this surgery.

    I'm in such a tricky situation. From your video it seems like my eyes are as bad as yours were before ICL. I had three consultations so far over the years. One doctor strongly recommended ICL over PRK. The other doctor suggested PRK as it is not as incisive as ICL is. He was concerned about infections from ICL. The third doctor said you can get either but the quality of vision would be better with ICL. My quest doesn't seem to end.

    • @Inside_Archaeology
      @Inside_Archaeology  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've never been suggested for PRK so I can't really compare but I will say that ICL was amazing, I followed my doctors orders very closely so had no post-op complications and my surgeon was one of the top eye surgeons in the UK so I think as long as you have a good doctor you have good chances but it is different for everyone. @@Inside_Archaeology I'm hoping for deep sedation as I get super anxious. Did you have this?

    • @Inside_Archaeology
      @Inside_Archaeology  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No I wasn't sedated. They can't really 'put you under' because they're operating on your eye so it has to be open ergo you can't be 'asleep'. Also the surgery is only 15 minutes so it's not really worth it. They did say they sometimes gave people something to help calm them down (like a valium) if they were super anxious but they prefer not to because a) the opiod crisis and b) it means that person has to stay at the hospital until the sedation wears off and especially right now they don't want people staying there longer than necessary. It might be different at your doctor but it doesn't hurt to ask. It's not as bad as you think it is, a nurse held my hand the first time and they were talking to me throughout the whole thing and it was over super fast. I just concentrated on my breathing and making sure it was even. Hope your surgery goes well!

    Thank you for this video! I am considering ICL and it was super helpful. When you said you had dry eyes, did you have symptoms that were problematic both before and after the surgery? Do you still have the plugs in your tear holes to help with that? I have very dry eyes and am wondering if I can have the ICL and plugs at the same time

    • @Inside_Archaeology
      @Inside_Archaeology  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My tear duct plugs never lasted so I can't comment on having them and ICL. I noticed that my eyes weren't nearly so dry after the surgery because I wasn't wearing contacts anymore (they tend to dry out your eyes). Laser eye surgery tends to make your eyes more dry but ICL either doesn't affect dryness or it tends to get better. Your optician/surgeon should be able to advise on what is best for you but in my experience if you have dry eyes they won't consider you for laser. Thanks for watching!

    Glad things are working for you. I do have a question that I'm not sure if you answered in a video yet. Since I'm joining the military and they have a program to pay for my archeology degree, I was wondering if you would recommend an online degree just to make things easier in case I deploy and can't make it to class. That way I could do the online work no matter what country I'm in. I'm planning on trying to get in contact with schools that offer such programs so I can ask questions about how I would go about things like field school and other things I need to physically do, but wanted to get your thoughts.

    • @Inside_Archaeology
      @Inside_Archaeology  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally I've never done online classes so I can't really comment on how good they are for your case. I really enjoyed going to class and participating in the discussions. As for how you'd work in field school you'd have to ask the schools you're lookin at about that. I will say that fieldwork is essential and the more you can do during shcool the better. You can only learn so much about the theory, you need to be able to put it into practice to get a good grasp of the concepts. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

    • @zlatanibrahimovic1915
      @zlatanibrahimovic1915 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Inside_Archaeology Thanks for the advice. I plan on trying to set my fieldwork periods on times when I won't have military obligations for long stretches since I'm doing reserves (part time). And I'll definitely ask the schools I'm interested in about if I could be accommodated when in the case that I could be deployed. I hope that my engineering military MOS and access to some of the tools can help to give me an advantage in the field of archeology so I can have a successful career. Keep up the good work. Happy to have found your channel and received such advice. You have been such an inspiration to me.

      I do have halos but after about 6 months I don't really notice them anymore. Hi, can you read from close distance?? Do you see clearly from close distance tiny little texts/objects ?

    • @Inside_Archaeology

      My long distance vision was fixed (so I can see things that are far away) but I haven't had problems with my short distance vision so there was no need to have it corrected. Thanks for watching!

    Hi, could I contact you provately please? I have very strong myopia and need to go into details regarding ICL lenses

      Between this video and my 10 month post-op follow up I don't really have any more information about the surgery to tell. You are best contacting an optical surgeon or opthamoligst who does the procedure and asking them. I'm also not a medical professional so I probably can't answer your questions anyway. My surgery update can be watched here: th-cam.com/video/2GM5wNvGfOw/w-d-xo.html

      @@R4PT0zZ Hi Phil, yes it went well if I’m honest. I was in and out within 1 hour and the whole thing was painless.
      It was just very uncomfortable whilst the procedure is taking place. Bright light and fair bit of pressure, but it only lasted 5 mins and he was done. My right eye is being done next Wednesday so it’s annoying having to use one eye all week, I’m wearing a patch over right eye.
      Left eye feels very up to standard now.
      I’d definitely recommend at the moment. If anything changes I’ll re-comment.
      I went with Optimax in Leicester.

    And do you know if rubbing eyes is allowed any time after the surgery, say after month or two. And wouldn't it affect lens positioning 🤔
