Although from the Deluxe trailer (even though that part was a joke) and from the latest Melodies of Sorrow promo we know that he is just frustrated.
Maybe Marco will give us answers for the posts about M that he has uploaded.

No one can stop from ultra m and that's how it's ultra m feeling alone
People see M as a total evil because he killed Boyfriend and Girlfriend, but M was also a victim, just a lost soul, not a devil like Daddy. In fact, M didn't even plan to kill his boyfriend in the first place. Besides, there are other characters(Ex: Black Imposter, The Havaster, Diablo) that killed them, so why are they only talking about M so bad?
I think it's because it's the most well-known case and because it doesn't help that M's lore is only in the last teaser for V2.
I mean, killing Bf and Gf didn’t change the fact that, he’s stuck, he doesn’t have a way to leave, and he was so blind with rage, that he didn’t think clearly, about using Gf to escape.
I feel like it's not that he didn't think, but that he didn't really care. M didn't seem like a guy who cared about getting out, but one who just wanted revenge (even in Hypno's Lullaby they put him in the category of "vengeful demon").
In the end, it's not clear how M feels about BF's death, as the problem is that A Mad World is listed in the credits.

fact: none of the characters (I have no idea about horror peach and Yoshi exe and ihy Luigi, because p and Yoshi were killed by m himself, and ihy Luigi was killed by bf) but none of the characters that merged with m actually die, they returned to their worlds after.
We'll have to wait for V3 for an answer (I wouldn't be surprised if they changed some things, again).
