    You need to look ahead too.. I like to find the entrance then look at middle of turn when I enter the rut then the exit.. I find you go where your looking..

    im learning this technique atm and one tip i found really useful from a Gary Semics vid is to lean your upper body over as you are entering the corner and then you can lean the bike over the correct amount into the corner. it seems to be the key that i was missing!

    Dabbing the foot is a mistake.. we should only promote it as a worst/last case scenario.

    The turns is were it's at! Anyone can go as fast as they want in a start away. Being able to keep your speed in each turn and hold on to your momentum! When you learn to sling shot your turns and become faster by using the turn to your advantage! JASON FALCON wrote this. Lol

    It takes some skill to be able to land your foot down as youre exiting the corner. I noticed if i ever do that it messes up my whole balance and causes my rear end to swing out and sometimes hard to recover.
    How ever when you do master the technique sometimes i noticed it can help you quickly shoot the bike straight upright so you can carry that speed.
    i miss riding. started getting back into it and man its taking me some time to get used to going as fast as i did a few years ago.

      Not if you are going to touch it on the ground for balance, you'll break it. I have seen videos pn what you sre referring to, and it goes against what this guy said. I feel it does in fact help balance sticking your leg out knee against shroud and toe pointed in. But in the event you do put it down or slide out, not good.

    What do you do on ruts where your back break is buried on the inside? How do you drag it? Or so you just front break it?

    Hi, what about right hand corners? If this corner was identical but a right hander, how would you drag the back brake? Is there something else you can do in that scenario?

    • @mxscoob754
      @mxscoob754  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Ryan Hutchinson A lot of amateurs have problems with right hand corners because of the rear brake, especially right handers with ruts. Most riders I watch or teach either leave their foot on the rear brake too long and almost come to a stop in the corner before they take it off, or they get off the rear brake and coast in the corner before getting on the gas again.
      These corners require the right technique and lots of practice to really flow and rail. The key is braking in the right body position, then having a quick transition off the rear brake and into your cornering position. You have to commit to the rut before getting too far into it.
      Have you ever noticed that almost all tracks have a left hand turns out of the holeshot anytime a track has a right hand turn you will see a lot more crashes. Your braking has to be precise on right handers!
      The key is to get out and practice, practice practice the right hand turns. The advantage you have with the right hand turn is you can grab a gear anytime, you just cant drag the brake through the turn like you can with a lefty. So the trade off is you can hit the throttle sooner and grab the next gear quickly. Once you master the right hand turn it actually makes your skills on the lefty even better.

    When you say wheel brake drag, should I be pulling in my clutch at all once i wheel brake drag? I'm referring to 7:25 in the video! I saw the first comment had this question , if you have since made a video for this question can you please link me? I really need to know when to pull in the clutch cause I seem to do that for certain corners and I do not know if that is the correct technique. Thank you for this video btw!!

    Any tips on right turns? Like when to put the leg out? I struggle since I'm trying to feather the rear brake and don't know when the leg should go out. Not an issue on left turns...

    • @mxscoob754
      @mxscoob754  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi John , It is sometimes a little more difficult with right turns because you are loosing that brake when you put the foot out for the corner. The key is to get the foot out at the right time and to have your braking correct. You want to put your foot out for the part of the turn where you going from braking to accelerating.
      Most beginner riders make a mistake and put it out to early. If you get the timing right, you will have your brakes right until you start to roll the throttle on for accelerating out of the corner. Get your leg back on the peg as soon as possible also.
      Most beginner riders keep it out to long and use it as a counterbalance. The leg is out there to just keep you from failing if you loose traction on the front wheel. Counterbalance the bike with your left foot on the peg from the ball of the foot with some weight down through it. Keep your weight low on the footpegs and use your controls and upper body movements for control and balance.
      What I found is that most riders who hate right turns start to luv them once they get the timing, balance and control down with them...Hope that helps. Get out there and get in them right turns and practice. You will get it!

      Awesome teaching.Life cost me growing up with it but at 32' I had the balls/enough natural skills for a shop+Tony Destifano saying I was to insane to be on an MXer.But had my shop guy upgrade my 97' to a sick 02' KTM 250.I was on for front of backflip.Always take the holeshot but eat 1rst corner.Life again deprived me.But at 53" I'm using that sick 02'KTM to help rebuild my health and tip vids. are great help.You are correct about your ability to teach+explain in the Feihman way of learning.Great explanations!

    Also give you room to get your butt almost on the edge offthe-wall seat. But this means that more weight will need to be transferred though the right leg. 👍👍 head position is also forward head.
    Nice video!!

    You mention early in your video above that you learned that art of motocross a corner at a time. I'm surprised a bit because most tracks WILL NOT allow this because it means you are cutting the track. I agree that repetition helps and I would like to do this is well, if I can get away unnoticed.

      +Charles Bernard
      Hey Charles at every track in PA that had open practice and that I would practice at you could go to a corner, run it, and as long as there was a safe way to get back to the straight away leading to that corner you had no problem or anybody hasseling you for doing this. I would also go to some private tracks where there wasnt an open practice but maybe like a couple local guys there and this was a real good place to practice corners.

    • @charlesbernard3042
      @charlesbernard3042 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's great to know because here at home i have been told countless times not to cut the track at any area ( but still do when i can get away with it ). The fact that during the weekdays there are not many on the track anyways makes it a silly rule overall.
