You have a 15kHz roofing filter selected for the FTdx5000MP. 3KHz is the better choice for SSB. Also, the DNR and RF gain in the FTdx5000MP could make these stations sound almost as good as FM.
Thanks for posting this. This is one of the videos I watched before purchasing a FTdx5000MP.

Excellent video demonstration of two top notch rigs. Thank you for sharing - very helpful for anyone considering purchasing either of them.

Nice video and a great rig collection for sure that you can obviously see you’re very proud of.
    BUT
Why wasn’t the DNR set on the Yaesu?
The price of these two rigs was $18,000 for the ICOM and $3,499 for the Yaesu without the station monitor my friend!
For that $14,500 I can do a lot. And not lose thousands of dollars in depreciation. If the DNR was set to “on” on the 5000 I’d say it would hold its own just fine.
How about the Yaesu FTDX 9000 as a comparison? (Of course with DNR on) Even at new prices, the ICOM costs about $9,000 more! You just sold me on the 5000 for sure!

Wisnu. the filtering is different on both from what I can see that is why the Icom sound better. Well if I am seeing this right the MP was on 3 BW and the Icom was on 2.4 BW which would make it not as noisy. am I right?

Depends on how wide the signal was.

Nice video. Thanks for sharing. Now that you used both in same conditions, what rig is for you better than the other and why? Thanks

Yaesu FTDX-5000 has a lower IF frequency and much narrower IF filters than Icom IC-7850 - this results in a lower noise floor and better signal readability on Yaesu. However ICom has a better DSP and the front panel. In my operation i use IC-7700 to spot signals and FTDX-5000 to receive very weak signals, 73!

Your noise level is very high. With the FTDX5000 IPO set to IPO1 (or AMP1), the S-meter should show S0 on 20 meters. When my IPO is set to AMP2, then the S-meter shows S-3 on 20 meters.

The Yaesu 5000MP really shines! It pulls in signals as well as the 7850 and sounds like similar noise floor. The Icon has a far larger speaker so its audio sound more natural.

The FTdx9000D would be a more fair comparison to the IC-7850. That being said, the Ftdx5000 w/SM5000 sounds great ($4300 US) as compared to the IC-7850 @ $14900 US. This comparison proves or disproves really nothing, just a guy showing off his radios which is okay. Think I would buy the Yaesu! Maybe that's what Wisnu is trying to show. Nice video!

It does not. Fixed max BW. Like it should be. As a ham you need to use the BW needed to exchange information. Not the voodoossb stuff that many people find awful to hear BTW. FOr that use the older Kenwood stuff.

Sky1 i guess u havent tried the old icom's....which by the way, doesnt really go back that far,had a icom 7k and 746 pro and they both had to be sent out for repairs, but my ft 101 ex,757gx,757gx2,ft 840,ft 990ac/dc models,ft 950,and ftdx 5k MP never has....granted,icom is putting out some nice radio's now a day, although a op i talk to has had display problems with 2 different 7610 display's....its a bold statement that icom always blew away yaesu's.if i didnt buy a yeasu,i bought kenwoods,ts 450,ts 120,ts 570d,ts 2000...and never an issue....i still prefer my Sherwoods top 10 rated ft 5k.
