Never in my 40 years of bike riding have i ever needed a multi tool, a chain break yes. In what scenario are you using these hex/torx bits on the road?

Guess you're still using quick release wheels. You can't remove the wheels on many modern bikes without a hex bit. Also used hex and torx bits last week when my teenager fell off knocking his handlebar and brake level out of line. I didn't use a multi tool in the 80s but I wouldn't go riding without one today.
